3rd Strike runs fine on HD, and I've played SNES games on HD with no problems either.
Which HD are you using? I have a Wega Hi-Scan, and Third Strike is an unwatchable, nearly unplayable eyesore on it. I've been playing Third Strike at the arcades ever since I bought my new TV. The Double Impact games look just fine though (pixelly but clean, unlike Third Strike).

  3. Updated list:

    Low Res Games
    Street Fighter Alpha 3
    Street Fighter 3: Third Strike
    Street Fighter 3: Double Impact
    Gunbird 2
    Bangai-O
King of Fighters Dream Match 1999
    King of Fighters '99 Evolution
    Black Matrix A/D
Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes
    Jo Jo's Bizarre Adventure
    Twinkle Star Sprites
    Last Blade 2: Final Edition

    High Res Games
    Garou: Mark of the Wolves
    King of Fighters 2000
    King of Fighters 2001
    King of Fighters 2002
    Vampire Chronicle for Matching Service
    Super Street Fighter 2 X
    Mars Matrix
    Giga Wing
    Yu Suzuki Game Works
    Eldorado Gate

Recap, I was debating whether or not to include emulated games, which I think includes Yu Suzuki Game Works. But if you're going to include emulation you'll be including the MegaDrive games you get with the Smash Pack (or whatever) and Midway Arcade Classics and other stuff.

And wasn't Eldorado Gate made for the DC? If that's the case it doesn't belong in either list because the screen resolution is native to DC.

Finally, as to what Icepick said about smaller characters, does anyone know the screen resolution for CPS3? I thought it was 320x240, which should divide nicely into the Dreamcast's 640x480. But Recap said the aspect ratio was different so it's probably not 320x240.

  4. Why not to include emulated games while they're official products? From the user's viewpoint, it is not relevant. Yu Suzuki could have been done in real low-res even if it was still emulation. Don't know what is that Smash Pack and never care about non-Jap games, so it's up to you.

Eldorado Gate was originally designed for the SS, so I suppose the hi-res display was the easiest way to port it to the DC hardware. Anyways, why not to include non-ports? They're still originally designing the graphics at different resolution to the one finally used. It's the same ugly result. CVS 1 & 2 and MVC2 are special cases, though; besides characters' sprites, the whole games are actual hi-res.

CP-S III resolution is not relevant since the pixel's shape of both systems is different. Check system16.com if still want to know it, thoe.

My only concern was to compile a list for games with resolutions lower than 640x480. Whether it's a port or not is irrelevant. It just happens that they're all ports.

  6. Then, what's the problem with Eldorado Gate?

  7. Is Eldorado Gate not 640x480? I don't actually have it so I don't know.

Also, isn't Princess Maker a port with some low res stuff in it?

Eldorado Gate is definitely chunky 320x240. So is Princess Maker. EG might be upscanned, I don't remember and my copy is in storage. PM is defintely true low rez though... and ugly as hell. Bleh.

I don't understand your list at all though. All of your 'High Res Games' are just upscanned 320x240. They're still blocky as hell, even if they're technically running at 640x480. Though ignore my ramblings if it's better explained elsewhere in the messages I only skimmed.

  9. Eldorado Gate and Princess Maker will be added.

The point is that they're upscanned and blocky, as you say. They look blurred. The low res ones don't, even though they're no less blocky in reality.

  10. Have Eldorado Gate Nai Ni Kan. It's, as I said, fake low res except in battles, which it's true hi res.

Princess Maker should not be added. As Ammadeau said, it's TRUE hi res.

The hi res list should be renamed to fake low res to avoid confusions, shouldn't it?
