Thread: Do your SPs scratch easily?

  1. Do your SPs scratch easily?

The outside shell, not the screen itself. I've only had mine for a couple months and already there's lots of fine scratches all over the front.

I'm super-anal about taking care of my stuff too so it's bumming me out. There was one time I forgot it was in my pocket and plopped my keys in there with it for a sec. I realized right away though and took the keys out. Aside from that, I just use it normally and the outside shell never comes into contact with anything rough. It goes from the recharger (where the back rests on the recharger plastic, not the front) to my air foam case to my hands (and I don't wear rings or anything like that) and back to the recharger.

Is the paint they use just really susceptible to showing even the most minor of blemishes? I bought the pearl-flavored one from lik-sang but I wouldn't think color would make a difference. Let me know if this is normal or if I must be allowing it to get scratched somehow (aside from the keys incident which wouldn't account for all the scratches which are continuing to multiply).

  2. Actually I leave all my GBA SP all over the place but I don't have a single scratch on it. The screen however looks like it has tons of crap on it. A little clean would fix it though.

I live in Australia though, somehow we may be getting better quality stuff than you guys.

  3. Yep, they all scratch easily. I try to keep mine in one of those stupid little cases and so far it isnt scratched.

  4. Could people post the colors they have too? Maybe the silver ones survive better. And the scratches I'm getting aren't visible at a glance; they're not deep enough. But shifting it in direct light, they become all too visible. Very light, thin scratches, as if they were made by tiny, miniature claws.

  5. It's just a handheld... its not like the world's largest Cubic Zirconia or anything. I used to be this asinine about my videogame systems then I realized how retarded it was.

But now Im like that with my guitar, so I guess its a lose-lose.

I haven't got any scrtaches on the screen itself, but my previous GBA SP (platnium) picked up a few scratches on the outer surface. Since that time, I've always made sure to keep my current model in the case I picked up from E3. I'd recommend getting a carry case for yours as well, instead of keeping it in your pocket.

  7. i could see the point to all this if someone were considering buying a gba sp and heard they scratch easily, but this is after the fact with nothing to do about it.......

  8. My Torchic SP managed to fall out of it's safe place...in a packed trunk...during a 300 mile drive.

    It got scratched.

well, I don't know about you, but regardless if someone is buying my GBA one day in the future is besides the fact. some blemishes can be avoided if one takes care of their stuff and I like to have my game hardware as "mint" as possible.

My blue one was fine, and my red one is fine. No scratches, really; at least none that I can see.
