    On the screen you can see his life bar and whichever target's life bar as well, there was one that almost killed him. He was down to nothing and the guy attacking him was nearly full health and he manages to get away enough to cast off 3 spells that floored him. It was really cool. And yeah, killing everyone comeing out of the castle solo was pretty damned impressive.

    Destin, the easiest thing to do in Shadowbane was to make a gimp. Basically, if you wasted 5 trains, you were probably gimped unless you took an easy class to play. It's probably really frustrating for new players to learn how to get a character right. I made 7 Furies and only 2 (almost 3) were worth a damn. I got the Templar right because by then I knew what every spell and combat style in the game did and how effective it was in conjucntion with other things.

    It takes a lot of time, a lack of a life and/or a job where you can play it at. For anyone who asked me though, I would come up with characters for anyone depending on the style they wanted to play. Me and my friend Paul (registered here as MarsKitten) would bs around at Denny's coming up with really esoteric character ideas. The SB templates board was full of my posts (I sorta stoped posting here in favor of Ubi.com's SB boards for a time). If the spells and effects and skills are still the same I could probably think up a kickass unconventional character.

    Come to think of it, without knowing how the game works I'm sure it would be hard to understand. I'm just a newbie in this game though. My Celt Champion is only level 9 and I've been pk'ed 3 times.

  2. Well, i played Eq to level 50 as a half-elven ranger (highest dex, thought that was good for archery) using nothing but bows. I wanted to be an archery, sue me. I had the highest fletchery on the server (which was sorta helpful for income), but in the end, i was just too weak. Now amount of skill or playing could change that. Unfortunate, but nice at the same time since i really had stopped enjoying the game past like level 20 (don't ask me why i kept playing, not willing to give up a commitment perhaps?)

  3. Archers typically are lightweights though and thier bank on range, stealth and speed rather than pure strenth. I wanted to make an archer in SB, but I was going for less fling'ing arrows and more 'Plant and Fire' like a howitzer. A Crossbow Warrior would have been cool. Mage's range, Warriors hitpoints, same fire-rate as a mage or better and effecitiveness as a mid-level nuke but with a faster run speed and non-snared/rooted stances. Then there was the potential for armor. I worked out the math for it but never got around to it. Woulda been cool I would bet.

  4. Finally read that 15 pager story Tracer - fucking awesome, you know my thoughts on the game but reading that makes me have a decent amount of appreciation for it - b/c that was fucking epic. Especially the bank defense part, excellent. I really am looking forward to getting into Darkfall - and maybe for once, trying to make the most of a game like that.

  5. In other news, I might give Shadowbane another chance. A couple of friends and I were talking about it and we think the game might have shaped up better by now. Since we collectively have million and millions in gold and 2 of us have ready made characters (on dead servers) that we can move wherever we want I think we'll have a good time if the game is stable enough. Also, The Black Watch still plays. I should like coming back from the dead to trounce them.
