i hate the "registration card" (it's a questionairre 9 times out of 10) level of detail, but the spin card i can -kind- of understand.... if it is at an extra cost of 1 quid.

I'm prepared to live without the extras if it means i get to play the game. I couldn't live like some people who won't buy a game they've been after for years because when they finally find a version of the game , the spin card is missing.

Call me Mr. Picky, but the spine cards aren't that playable.

What the fuck does actually caring about the quality of your game have to do with a "Japanophile?" And for that matter, since when did "Japanophile" become the cool "insult?" Caring about the spine card is no more stupid than caring about the back insert. God forbid someone would prefer to have their game in good shape. They must be a "Japanophile" if they don't treat their games like shit and throw things away.

That being said, I would never pay that damn much for a spine card. That is insane. If assholes didn't throw them out, no one would ever be selling them. Hence, you want to blame someone, blame the stupid motherfuckers that throw them out rather than spend the 5 seconds to place them in the manual. I don't care if you think it is a "stupid slip of paper," common business sense dictates that people pay more for a complete copy of the game. Thus, if you plan to sell a game later, you'd have to be pretty fucking stupid to throw the spine card away rather than exploit the so-called "Japanophiles."

Wanting the spine card is absolutly no different to wanting the intructions or back insert. They all add resale value to a game and they are all pretty much useless (apart from shelf aesthetics) things to have unless you can read Japanese.

Personally I'm so above all this I only buy a game if its got at least 3 fag burns and has 'you're a twat' written on it in felt tip pen (permanent) along with a crude picture of a dick.

And I stand by the idiocy of spine cards... they're the equivalent of that small strip of sticky shit on the top of US games... they're there so the barcode isn't on the case itself... it shouldn't matter one way or another if a game has it or not.

You are actually equating a piece of tape to a spine card? A spine card, like it or hate it, is part of the packaging, and not in a "to help keep the case closed" kind of way.

Some people don't give a crap about the case itself, the booklet, or whatnot. Hell, I knew tons of people back in the NES days who just kept the card and the black sleeve and tossed everything else out. Let's get some of those people in here and have them call you an idiot for caring about having those with your games.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I just see "Japanophile" thrown around almost as much as "Hardk0re." Seems like nothing more than self important bullshit. I know what is usually implied with the term Japanophile, but many times it gets used whenever someone says they enjoy something Japanese in origin. I don't expect you to understand the draw of spinecards. They are nothing more than strips of paper with the barcode. I, on the other hand, care about them. I just prefer to have my games complete. Generally, when buying a used game, if it has the spine, chances are the disc will be in good shape. Afterall, if they took they time to save that unimportant strip of paper they likely take good care of their stuff. Regardless, I apologize for the misunderstanding. I got roughly 4 hours of sleep due to some asshole who keeps calling and hanging up every 20 minutes so I'm kind of pissy.

I understand why spine-cards are important for Collectors, since their purchase is less about getting the most out of the game (playing it), and more about simply owning the game in it's most "perfect" complete form (collecting it). Although I do know some exceptions, that simply love playing a game so much they want to own it in the most physically perfect form.

Myself, I could care less. I own a spineless copy of Rakugaki Showtime and a dog-eared crushed box Bangai-O (N64). Never lost sleep over them... apart from not being able to beat the last form of Gai for about a month

For me, i play games because i enjoy them.
There are as many good western games as there are japanese games. IMO.
Of course, Recap seems more bent towards action games, and there is no doubt the snes era spawned some incredibly interesting JPNese titles.

If i was limiting myself to JPN games, then most RPGs would be painful - unless you are fluent in japanese (or at least more than competent (level 2 standard))
amnd most Koei games would be a none starter, objectives in smoe games probably wouldn't be clear either.
