I'm going to check as soon asI can, but I have SEGA Sports edition Dreamcast which I'm pretty sure was made after 2000, and I've never had a problem with it.
An informal survey.
I always heard reports of hit-and-miss success with booting certain games on the original batch of DC models. I was wondering if the situation has improved any with the latter batch of DCs manufactured. The types of DCs I'm looking for are the ones produced from 2000 on, preferably the ones that lost the ability to boot data CDs (look at the label on the bottom of your DC to find out what date your unit was manufactured).
Which titles, if any, have you experienced trouble with booting up on your newer DCs?

My first Dreamcast died when I punched it because Crazy Taxi 2 sucks.
My newer model, bought in August 2001 works perfectly to this day.
I've never had a problem with my DC; it was produced in July of 2000, I believe. I've even heavily modified it, and it still runs like a dream (no pun intended).
Taito - Some dreamcasts might not read the disc due to the bootable the disc requires. My theory is certain versions, mostly the newer ones, dont play everything, not the old ones. Maybe Sega tried to patch the DC? Beats me.

So the sports edition can boot stuff like the DC-X? I was thinking of getting one as a backup.
Ha, yeah that's the main reason I got it actually. I could do without the lame sports logo though. But you're right, it does kick a lot of ass.Originally Posted by DjRocca
