Thread: Really great Xbox games

  1. I've only played the Carve demo in OXM, but I'm quite impressed with it. The graphics are fantastic, and the controls are good, with the trick controls finally growing on me. At only $20, it should be more than worth the money, and the XbL play only sweetens the deal.

Why yes. Yes I do my Xbox deprived friend.
Breakdown- From everything I've read on the early buzz this game is going to be fantastic. I haven't played it myself but I was really concerned about the idea to do a "first person fighting adventure" but the word on the street so far is that this game is awesome. It's just six days away and a friend of mine already has a pre-order, so I'll be able to give this a better praise later on. Xbox Nation gave it a 9, and they hate everything! All this over a game that no one was really even talking about prior to the reviews. It's going to be a sleeper for sure.
Battle Engine- I beat this and it's by far one of the most underrated Xbox games. The story is a little cliche but the gameplay makes up for it. You control a land/air vehicle that can switch on the fly making for some really nice land and air missions. It also does a excellent job of putting you in the action and making you feel like you're honestly in the middle of a battlefield. The main game lasts pretty long too, with lots of extras. Considering you can find it cheap I don't see why anyone wouldn't get this.
Carve-I've played a hell of a lot of this with friends, and I have to say that it's really fun. The trick system is a little strange and not up to par with some other Jet Ski titles but it's fun and it's Live. All for twenty dollars.

  3. I will be getting Carve this weekend, thus allowing me to pwn all your wannabe asses.....

....or at least have a lot of fun trying.

  4. Hehe, awesome. I might get XbL this weekend, and if I do, Carve will be a definite pick-up.

  5. To me the XBOX still gets the gasface.

    Otogi
    Orta
JSRF (not as good as the first but good)
    Fatal Frame
    Silent Hill 2
Ninja Gaiden (good game, bad camera)

I'm sure Otogi 2 rules but I have yet to play it.

That's the long and the short of it as far as I'm concerned. Too bad the most powerful console on the planet doesn't seem to have the power to land more than a handful of worthy games. I guess that what the PS2 is for.

Every time one of these threads comes up, the lists start flying -- but I don't really think you can qualify a purchase like that. Shooting down a Banshee and standing back as it crushes a hapless Grunt in the process? I bought an Xbox for that. Watching the sun set over Balmora? Bought an Xbox for that, too. Seeing Ryu zip-line down a frickin' power-line? Again, this is why I bought an Xbox.

Whether or not a console is worthwhile comes down to unique, personal experiences with a game, you know? Experiences where you'd have gladly ponied up the cash again if it meant keeping the controller in your hands. And good luck putting that in point form.

"Hey, can you dudes recommend some games?" is one thing, but The Inquisitor (Justify your existence!) routine is getting a bit stale.

  7. PaCrappa you forgot to put PGR2 on that list. Don't lie now.

Anyway...I'm sure every single game has been mentioned by now so why bother.

  8. Does anybody know if Otogi 2 is state bound? I'd guess not...

  9. Wish I knew If they polish up the few imperfections of the first, it'll be a sweet title
