Thread: Here is True Power!

  1. So who's the ultimate abuser of the TRUE POWER!!!! cliche?

I remember that one dude in Devil May Cry had the awesome true power

  2. Phantom Brave had an interesting twist on this. Laharl from Disgaea appears in the game as a boss and once you beat him the first time, he leaves to get powered up only to challenge you again. Beat him again and he does the same thing. When you beat him the third time though, one of the 'good' characters realizes this is just going to go on forever and fakes being completely beaten just to feed Laharl's ego and end this whole conflict. It was pretty funny too since Ash and Marrone are so obviously faking being all injured, but Laharl's ego is just too huge to notice.

The only one I've beaten is Suikoden 1, which had a king transform into a three-headed dragon.

  4. The worst of this was in Star Ocean 2 I think. The end guy was hard as hell and then when I finally defeated him some random thing came and possesed him or something and completely kicked my ass. It literally took me two months to defeat the end-boss in Star Ocean 2 and I didn't even do the thing that took his limiter off (I'm convinced that if I did this there would be not even the slightest chance I could defeat him).

I was a little surprised by his appearance, but he firmly conformed to the game's "Fight each boss three times before they finally die" rule, and besides, they'd already shown him hurling about all kinds of crazy powers, like calling bolts of orange lightning from the sky to fry birds and making clones of Dante's mother that he's frighteningly aroused by. With a buildup like that, the end result is bound to be disappointing.

What I want to know is, if he could appear as three lights in the sky and hurl massive bolts of lightning down on things, why didn't he just vaporize you hours before you set foot in his chambers?

  6. Man, why can't you people just ignore that retard last boss in FF9? It's not like he ruined the fantastic ending.

Until Square writes me a long and detailed letter explaining what purpose some random as fuck last boss who had NO BUILDUP WHATSOEVER IN THE ENTIRE GAME!!!!!1111?11, then I will never forget.

I remember being excited for the ending, it was so awesome finally beating the supposed last boss, and then BAM, some kind of alternate world bullshit with some random guy. I don't even know what the point of him was

I agree with this man. I didn't remember how random the boss was, I just remember a really good ending after the fight.

You lie because nobody can forget the ultimate true power of "WTF is this shit?!?" consuming your body and soul when you saw him.

  10. He didn't have a point or make any sense but at least his bullshit was confined to one short fight. I would have preferred they did something else with that boss but it didn't effect anything outside of that fight, at all.
