Thread: Mail-in rebates

  1. Heres another deal..

CircuitCity (in stores only) has the Western Digital 160GB Internal Hard Drive for $110 - $90 rebates = $20. The pricetag may show a higher price so you need to bring it to the cash register and have them ring it up. It should be priced at $110 instead of $160 before rebates.

  2. Nice. If it's this one, http://www.circuitcity.com/detail.js...&catoid=-10263, it comes out to $69.99. I'm tempted to get it, but it doesn't have the PCI card needed for older PCs like mine.

  3. The only Circuit City we had here just closed recently.

I just checked on the hard drive I currently have, and it has a 2MB cache. I'm happy with it, so I don't think I'll have much of a problem with this one.

My old hard drive died on me, it had a 2mb buffer on it. Western Digital replaced it under warranty with an 8mb buffer drive. I can't really tell a difference, personally.

  5. Multiply the cost of the rebate by .10-.20 (the percentage of people that send the rebate in) - that's the real-world cost of the rebate to a company.

So, $100 rebate, 15% actually send the rebate = $15 rebate for everyone.

What sounds better to you: 1.) A $100 piece of electronics ($200, -$100 mail in rebate) or a 2.) $185 piece of electronics.

The cost is the same for the store/manufacturer.
