Speaking of spots, try to make sure you're getting the right person for the spot.
Had a dude ask me to spot him...for 350. Brother, I ain't stopping that from dropping on your neck. The whole time I was praying, praying he could handle it.

So like a little bitch I brought my knee up between the bar and my chest and rolled the fucker onto the ground to which the ensuing racket from all of the weights hitting the ground caught me a lot of embarrasing looks and snickers (bastards). Of course before I rolled it, I looked around for help, and everyone was in their own zone so...
Yeah, that sucks. Am I the only on whose ever done that?
It would have been funnier if you called for help and everyone in the room purposely walked out.
I'm too cheap to go to a real gym, so I go to the one at school. My only complaint is when I show up at the same time the entire baseball team or football team, whatever, all show up at the same time to train. They take up all the machines, and I'm too impatient to wait.
That would have sucked, and I guarantee that all of those fuckers who would've walked out would have some slashed tires by the end of the night (you know because most of the guys there could've kicked my ass if I confronted them).Originally Posted by Rocca
On hindsight, I probably should've called for help, but it would have ruined the whole machismo thing I had going.
Who knows maybe some of the people there thought that I threw the weights down like a total bad-ass who couldnt be bothered with such trifles ( I never thought of that until now)
I've failed on a lift or two in my time. Once I was benching without a spot and I totally gave out on the last rep…I couldn't even raise it enough to rack it on the lower rung. So I just supported the weight with my arms and rolled the bar down my body to my waist so I was able to sit up. Then I stood up holding the bar and placed it on the bench, then re-racked it. Lucky it wasn't a heavy set or I might have had more of a problem. I don't bench without a spot anymore.

Okay, cool so I'm not the only one. You handled it better than I did though. I got pissed, paniced and just dropped it.Originally Posted by Dolemite
Yeah, I was definitely a bit gun-shy after that happened and generally dont bench w/o a spot anymore either.
