Thread: Playstation 2 Progressive Scan?

  1. Playstation 2 Progressive Scan?

I know the new PS2 models are progressive scan compatible. now is that DVD playback progressive scan, or PS2 games in progressive scan?

    thanks!

oh, that would suck. atleast that what some site says too

  4. ...

Wait wait. Yes the PS2 (all models I think) support progressive scan if the games do. For instance GGX2 supports it, so it will work. It's game dependent, not system dependent, just like GC and Xbox. Now I think the movies support progressive if you have one of the new models, right? Or is this only with the Japanese ones?

Import PS2 supports progressive games as well, the latest being Shikigami No Shiro 2. Not sure about DVD play back.
"50,000! You scored 50,000 points on Double Dragon?"

  5. the new u.s. version supports progressive scan dvd playback. it's pretty neat, but if the dvd is anamorphic, it automatically defaults you to a widescreen display. this isn't a problem if you're using an hdtv, but i use a regular monitor, so everything is distorted.

all versions of the ps2 support progressive games, even though there are only a few.

can you name some PS2 PS games? also is there an indication on the game box?

  7. offhand, tekken 4, burnout 2, ssx3, and guilty gear xx all support progressive scan.

i know that prog scan support is undocumented in ssx3, and i'm pretty sure that it's often not a publicized feature, for whatever reason. i have a site bookmarked that has a list of ps2 prog scan games, but it's on my home computer.

  9. For a comprehensive list of what games support ProgScan on which systems go here: hdgames.net

And yes, the new systems are adding Progressive scan for movies. The few games that do progressive scan on PS2 do so on all systems.
