Thread: Video Game Industry Faces 'Crisis of Creativity'

  1. I'm sorry I'm trying to tone down. I'll just try harder I apologize Master of 7s. I respect your opinion and agree.

But you have to admit that the stagnation of the gaming industry is starting to catch up with it creatively. Someone above stated that people will get bored with sequels and demand new titles. The industry will follow the buyers trends.

  3. haha yes. I remember that episode of Futurama it was great. As soon as you heard Pacman say he was 3 days away from retirement you knew he was in for it!! Where did you get this image? I assume a screen capture.

  4. You assumed correctly, it's one of the dozen or so screen caps I took of that part of the episode, the part with invaders, possibly from space.

  5. No I think they are from the What If machine, not actually from real space in a Futurama world. But it's close. The finglonger made an appearance this season too.

  6. "For such a looming crisis, games sure have been a lot of fun these past 4 years."

Yes, especially the ones that game out more than four years ago.

  7. Video Games? I suppose the case could be made but movies and TV are in FAAAR more trouble.

Games back when were fun, too. However, I've never looked back at games of the past and thought, "Wow...those were so much better than today." There've been just as many good and bad games since the first arcade opened.

I loved playing Super Mario Bros., Double Dribble, Metroid, etc. Today I love playing Halo, Viewtiful Joe, Wario Ware, Splinter Cell, etc.

  9. I dunno, I certainly find plenty to play nowadays, but it definitely feels like the ratio of quality to crap has been decreasing steadily. Just my opinion I s'pose.

  10. So long as you've got enough quality to play, it's not that big of a deal.

I buy so few games that I miss a lot of stuff that I want to play. I never was able to pick up Disgaea, Dark Cloud 2, or Sly Cooper. I can't say that I'll be able to grab Ninja Gaiden, Prince of Persia, The Suffering, Manhunt, or NBA Ballers anytime soon either.

Of course your preferences are going to differ from mine. I can't even come close to owning, let alone having the time to play everything that I really wanna play through.

Maybe it's a case of glass half empty/half full.
