Thread: Next Rez Game to be on PSP or NDS

  1. I can't tell whether you're sincere or the world's greatest spin-doctor.

    Or, you know, a nutjob.

I believe this news. I do troll the hell out of every handheld thread... every one except this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one, and this one. Damn, and those exceptions are just for threads which were posted in during 2004!

My games don't have emotions or egos. I'm jealous.
Oh fine Mr. Literalist, just alter what you quoted of me there until it reads that it's better for Rez to go out with a bang and not have a shitty follow-up than to have a shitty follow-up.

It needs to be on a console like nothing else.
This is all that you needed to say.

I was actually planning on buying it for myself. You know, to play it.

p.s. If Rez on handheld actually sells well there's a greater chance of a console sequel then if it totally bombs. If it sells pathetically the higher-ups will figure the license is crap and totally cut it off; your logic is quite backwards when aimed at corporate. It's not exactly an established series yet (not that that sort of thing helped Streets of Rage, but still).
I disagree. I'd rather have nothing. I'd prefer to have nothing.
But you won't be purchasing it, therefore you will have nothing. I don't see the problem here.

That my PSP will have a screen that's like 1/20th of my current TV and is lacking a subwoofer that makes my body vibrate in time with the beat. When it comes to sound/color immersion, those are some pretty big points. In fact, they're practically the entire reason to play Rez in the first place.

I have invented no detractable points, this is like trying to recreate the statue of David with Photoshop. No matter how hard you try and no matter how good an artist you are, Photoshop will never be able to make a tangible stone carving. Give the PSP a video and an optical out and we'll talk.

it's kind of sad that you did all that work when it won't change anyone's opinion of you as a handheld-thread troll.

If the guy wants to put Rez on a handheld, let him do it.
He made it good on consoles, i'm sure he'll manage to make it good on handhelds.

    you guys worry too much.
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

People worry too much about videogames on a videogame message board?
    Perish the thought!

I don't see the problem here.
The problem is that the game (theoretically) exists, when it shouldn't.

I think Rez is a great game. Now that opinion will be called into question every time the game is discussed and someone has to inquire why I don't acknowledge this handheld sequel. The exact same problem exists in regards to the RCR and FFT series.

Currently it's impossible for me to discuss (ie) FFT without recognizing the existence of FFT Advance. It shouldn't have to be that way, but S-E loves money and its fans love unquestionably spending it. Thus I have to suffer.

And all of the discussion, and development, and money exchanged, and talent wasted towards these handheld games would simply not exist if these choices did not have to be made.

But hey, this is an industry and there's profit to be had.

That doesn't mean I should have to tactily agree with people who are content to purchase substandard software for the sake of not being labelled a troll.

The record will not stop skipping until you people stop assuming everyone is content with blindly spending money for the companies/developers/series they "love".

  6. I believe his point was to prove that he barely trolls these threads at all and provided evidence to support his claim.

Maybe it'll have a USB port for the Trance Vibrator... ooh!

Only the truth can make me this sad.

That being said, I'd gladly buy a new Mizuguchi game on whatever format it is offered to me. I spent a good chunk of time this past weekend playing Rez and SPC5 Part 2... I love 'em

It "shouldn't" be that people enjoy a great game just because it's on a system you don't like? I'm sure many cry for you.

To use your own examples, I fail to see how RCREX or FFTA are in any way substandard on portable (barring FFT's music). Rez, fighting games, and racing games are the only styles I think should not be on portables.

But then, you would rather that many games not exist at all then exist on portable, so it's not like you even have anything against the game. The GBA is the only place to get constant, new, quality side-scrollers and I somehow doubt that number would increase exponentially if portables stopped existing. We'd merely end up with no Aria of Sorrows and instead have a larger lineup of Lament of Innocences. I prefer quality games on a platform that allows me to play wherever over no games at all, but that's me.

Except that most of your writings in such threads hinge on nothing that has anything to do with that and everything to do with your personal distaste with portable gaming. If the two meet, all the more reason for you. I do like how you typed that sentence in this thread, there's a lot of console game threads that deserve it a lot more, especially since hardly anyone is acting blind in here.

    Well.....

Large increases in storage capacity mean the possibility of streamed digital audio. So...yeah. That stuff'll be CD quality. However, Rez doesn't just stream pre-recorded digital audio. The entire point of Rez is that the music changes with what you do. That requires midi. Good sounding midi has nothing to do with storage capacity. It has to do with having a good sounding synthesizer with tons of wavetable RAM on the chip for storing realistic or full instrument sounds. On a portable, I have my doubts for quality midi....

  10. First Shining Force... now this...

    *huge, dissapointed sigh*
