It means when you've had your twelfth birthday one year and and next year comes, that's when you become 12 in a half. Nevermind. It's very hard to explain. But I think it's pretty damn obvious.
Actually, 12 in a half years means you're 6.
Let me be the one to explain it without confusing you further. You probably hear '12 'n a half years old' spoken. It's twelve, as in your full number of years alive, AND A HALF. IN a half makes no sense. You have twelve years AND an additional half year.
