REmake.
What do you feel has been the best game remake this era? So far I'm most impressed with Metroid: Zero Mission. It retains what was great about the original and adds in a bunch of new stuff. Resident Evil on GC is also excellent but I think Metroid was more dated and in more need of a remake.
I'm hoping those D3 Sega Ages games are good but it sounds like they aren't that impressive from the impressions I have read.
REmake.
I'd probably say MGS: Twin Snakes.
Time for a change
Hmm, it's a really tough choice between MGS Twin Snakes and Resident Evil.
I say Resident evil purely for the extra stuff as well as re-arranging things and adding cool manuevers like the zombie repel stuff(daggers/flash grenades).
I was actually playing it a couple of nights ago, the graphics still look insanely beautiful and I love that damn game. MGS: TS had some awesome cinemas and looked a ton better but the more sophisticated A.I. kind of made it more tougher than I imagined ao I'd put that as a negative so far but otherwise it's definitely an awesome remake.
Quest for Glory: So You Want to be a Hero?
... kickin' it old-school
funny, first thing i thought of when i saw this thread was Metroid zero.Originally Posted by NeoZeedeater

I'd have to say REmake, but uh... Well, to be honest I wasn't around with games for the originals. I usually play the originals after giving the remakes a shot.
I have to say the best remake has to be REmake, only because it's so far ahead of the original in so many ways. RE's few jump scares had become so dull, the voice acting and environments seemed to only grow cheesier with time... The remake totally recreated the experience from the ground up, creating something superior in absolutely every way to the original.
Which is why the rest of those shitty RE GC ports make me so mad.
Anyway, yeah, I'd say it's the best, but my favorite is probably the Twin Snakes. My love for MGS1 is probably borderline ridiculous, and I loved MGS2's gameplay, despite its crazy-ass plot. I can remember a friend of mine plowing through MGS2 in the days after it came out, we had a conversation about how much we'd love to play MGS1 with MGS2's gameplay and graphics. At that point we could have never imagined it was actually going to happen, right?
Furthermore, the fact that I got my name on a set of dog tags in the remake of one of my favorite, if not my absolute favorite game ever... I can't help but love it, even if it is lacking in new special features, even if the new music isn't always as good as the original... I think it was more than worth the price of admission for any MG fan, and anyone who hasn't been exposed to MGS owes it to themselves to play it.
Zero Mission was also an awesome game, but the length of the game really made me frown. However, the final parts of the game were totally unexpected for me, and very, very cool.
However...
The final boss was a steaming load of crap that I never expected to end the game, and I still hold this against it. Grr. At that point I kind of wished it ended with Mother Brain.
If it counts (and I think it should), I vote for Tempest 2000.
