Thread: Strider Hiryuu

  1. I hate Strider. Cool character, shitty games.

This thread, however, rocks. I didn't know about the Famicom thing. Neat!

  2. Strider 2 is fucking awesome. The arcade Strider also on that compilation absolutely whoops my ass, I am but a toy for it to bat around. For whatever reason I couldn't ever get into the NES Strider. Maybe it was because I only finally found a copy a couple years ago and trying to boot up my NES was more trouble then it was worth, and now Strider 2 is just so cool I can't justify it.

  3. Strider was one of my favorite games when I used to go to the arcades regularly, Strider Hiryuu is an awesome character and one of my favorite ones of all time... just slightly behind Jon Talbain though

Speaking of which I had made a sprite that combined two of my all time favorite Capcom characters, my kind of Strider... Strider Talbain ^..^

  4. I liked the NES version of Strider quite a bit as well, and remember finishing it bunches of times...

I played Strider 2 tons, doing the whole beating it on one credit thing if I remember correctly...I don't think I've played it more than once or twice since it was released.

I never did beat the Strider port for psone, though I remember finishing it on Genesis. Maybe I just remember seeing somebody beating it. *shrugs*

    Damn robo-gorilla.

I never heard of this game. What format/year was it released on?

Yeah, more info on these Strider-like games, please (platform?)

I love the arcade original, the NES game, and the arcade sequel. This thread has me hyped to play them again when I get home =D

Don't forget to mention that every run of the PS games has the Strider and Strider 2 disc art swapped =X

If you'd like some counseling, I am available daily for $200/hour.

  8. Hiryuu received a new look specifically for the game, which would become his standard look for the subsequent game.
Actually, he didn't really receive a 'new' look (other than a redrawn sprite tailored for the MvC series). The current Hiryu looks different from his old CPS1 rendition, but is about identical to his portrayal in the manga (at least from artwork I've seen of the comic, never read it myself).

Run Saber is a great Strider esque game for the SNES, it
was pretty fun but it has ben years since I played it.

Cool thread. I didn't know the manga came first.

One nitpick - Strider Returns came out earlier than '94. I think it was '92.

I'm a huge Strider fan. I loved it in the arcades. I was very excited when EGM first showed pictures of the Genesis version. I bought the import and I still have it. I was surprised to find out at TNL that the domestic version had the cool "All sons of old gods die!" voice removed.

I liked the NES game and the PS1 sequel but they don't compare to the original. I really need to try Cannon Dancer.

Check this out for Cannon Dancer/Osman info and pics.
