Hiryuu's creator, M. Kikaku, is also the author of Tenchi wo Kurau, a comic series published by Shueisha which had four video-games from Capcom, the first of them being Dynasty Wars in Western countries. Seems that Capcom and Kikaku were really related each other. Strider Hiryuu 2 was a disappointment. A small shadow of what the original game was. 3D backgrounds were not necessary. Even more if you already had played Cannon Dancer, developed by the original Strider Hiryuu designer. Great thread, by the way, though I'd love to read more about the stages' conception and graphic design, really unique and innovative in their moment.

The PSX inclusion of the original was great, as it was my first chance to play an arcade-perfect version of the game. The Genesis version was the first version of the game I ever played, and I still give it a go every now and then on the Nomad. It's amazing how much better the arcade (PSX) version looks when compared to the Genny one. The disc art being swapped on the Strider games annoyed me to no end when I first bought Strider 2. How on Earth such a bush league error could be made is beyond me.
