Thread: How Important is your videogame Collection to you?

    Tones, this is exactly true, in my case. While I'm proud of the games I own (just need Hyper Duel and I'm done), as of the last 2 years I have been slowly outgrowing my past obsession. Nowadays, I just have too little time to spend playing them, and too little money to keep supporting new ones. Piracy is not an option as I don't know how to do it and the one guy I know who does lives in another state. Besides, I find myself playing more old emulated games than anything else. As long as I have a computer, I can always play those great old games. No graphics whore I!

    99% of my collection is stored in a closet in boxes. I have no intention to dig them out or play any of them on a long-term basis (i.e. finishing them). I keep a select few DC and XBox games out and that's it. One day, I'll consider selling my collection. I'd consider keeping my Saturn and DC, with maybe 10 choice games apiece, unless the price was just too good to pass up. At this point, I could part with everything else and after a brief "damn, I wish I hadn't gotten rid of [insert X here]" period, life would continue on, but with much more closet space.

    Hard to say, but I know my reasons are different. I tend to not sale any my games, because

    1. A lot of them are old gen games, and though they have the boxes and manuals, you still get jack shit for them on ebay.

    2. I have two wonderful sisters who have put enough scratches on all my CD games that they now are worth about 20 bucks under their normal resale value.

    3. Most of my new games are mulitplayer. I like to keep those for when people come over to hang out and drink.

    Could I get rid of my games? Yes. I'd like to keep my sonic games, orginal lunars and SOTN, as those are the games I've enjoyed the most in the past 10 years. But in the end, I could, and may very well sale all of them.

    The part of them that matters will always be with me.

  3. my games arent important anymore. used to have a huge collection from the 2600 to present day. all i have left is a dreamcast, ps2 and a 3d0. only thing hooked up is the ps2 mostly for movies. it always sickened me when i was at school and would visit friends. there waould always be these hot ass girls watching them play their games. hello, your at school, girls are mad orny during that time......you should be playing with THEM! needless to say thats around the time my mindset about games changed. that and all the real world bills i have now. theres just too much more important stuff.

    Oh I'm aware of this. Unfortunately time, effort, packaging and shipping costs do not appeal to me whatsoever. Also, anybody wanting a complete NES game usually wants it for collection reasons. I can't live with that. I demand that they at least play the freaking thing.

  7. Ditto. I only keep what I play, plus some odd PS1 games like SoTN, FFT, and SFA3.
