Thread: Nintendo deny seizure claims

  1. Nintendo deny seizure claims

BBC3's recent Outrageous Fortunes has been spreading Outrageous lies according to Nintendo.

BBC3 have been doing a series of programmes called 'Outrageous Fortunes' which focus on big-money companies and the scandals behind them. On Monday they portrayed Nintendo, and they weren't happy over some claims.

According to the programme Nintendo have been knowingly included "seizure-inducing content" in their games.

Nintendo denied this allegation and issued a statement. 'The notion that Nintendo would knowingly include in its games material that it knew could cause seizures is ridiculous. There is nothing more important to us than the health and wellbeing of our players." The spokesperson continued speaking about the matter: "We began including a warning about seizures with our games in the UK in 1993. We were the first videogame company to provide such warnings."

The programme however stated that Nintendo have denied to provide vital information during court cases twice. The cases were ones where parents have sued Nintendo over problems Nintendo's games have caused to their children.

BBC3 also tested several of recent Nintendo games and states they would not pass the Independent Television Commission's guidelines for television broadcasts regarding flashing images.

  2. OMG conspiracy!

  3. idiot's news.

let me guess.. it's british, right?
MK2 on XBLA plz - let the unfolding of gameplay begin!!

  4. Yes, BBC = British Broadcoasting

And yeah, that's a pretty ridiculous claim. The only times I know Nintendo's been in trouble for seizure-inducing stuff is from Pokémon cartoons that aired in Japan, not their videogames.

And what benefit does Nintendo have from hiding little seizures in their games? It'd be about as good as selling exploding TVs, or cigarettes that kill you...oh wait.

When stupid kids hurt their hands playing Mario Party (using the analog stick with their palms like tools), Nintendo sent out free fingerless gloves to anyone with stupid children.

They really do go out of their way. I don't believe this news.

No, Nintendo first chops off the children's fingers, then gives them gloves to cover their palms/knuckles.

    I believe this news.

  10. Man, what's with people and these soft hands playing MP? We were casually playing on of the N64 ones a long while back, and my sister suddenly looks at her hand. There's this huge chunk of flesh completely separated from the rest of it.
