Thread: Shadow Hearts: Covenant headed to the U.S.

  1. you're finding the charm that the rest of us found when we played it too. the best music in that game is all in the first half in Shanghai, IMO. the rest of it is pretty good, too, but i think that section is the strongest and most memorable.

and the cock monsters are scary/gross. i know it's only a game, but i can't bear to watch one of my characters get dick slapped. it's just... wrong!

If you think that's funny, wait until you play SH Covenant. There's an optional subquest at the end of the game for Joachim, Keith's brother, called the Man Festival. Its a giant 100 floor wrestling (you only go through 37 or so), and your opponents are.....fruity. When you finish it, its heavily implied that the Great Gama makes "love" to Joachim. Yuri's quote as its happening is priceless: "thank god I'm not into that shit"

I finished Covenant this past Sunday. I did everything subquest except finding all the Crests, as I ran out of lottery tickets, and the enemies don't drop them frequently enough. One of the best rpgs I played through in the past year, and I hope to god they make a Shadow Hearts 3. I think my total time in the end was 54 hours.

Yeah, they definitely aren't hiding in the closet... *vomit* LOL

  4. Just finished Shadow Hearts with my time at 37 hours. I did every single side quest except getting Yuri's ultimate weapon. The ending was pretty damn short for an RPG and I had the supposed "good" ending.

    Things I Liked:
    -Enemy designs
-Library was cool; I liked knowing the monster's origins
-The setting was unique for an RPG
-The Judgement ring kept the battles somewhat interesting
-For the most part, the story was pretty engrossing

    Things I Didn't Like:
    -The attacks got very repetitive
-Needed a shorten spell animation option
    -The music was meh overall
    -The ending was underwelming
    -What purpose did Margaret serve?
    -The graphics were pretty booty

I started a game on Shadow Hearts 2 and can already see the improvments. For one thing, the Judgement Ring is sharper and easier to see. The graphics are five times better. I have good feelings about this game!

Yeah, SH2 is a near-perfect RPG. Since you can actually see the ring now, those special ring items get really fun to mess around with - lariats, strike expand, hit expand + practice ring + mind's eye, etc.

  6. If you really want to be a beast, set Yuri's ring to Gamble ring, and use a mind's eye. His hit ring is exactly in the middle, with the strike area slightly to the left, and you'll destroy most enemies easily like that.

  7. awesome fucking news... Shadow Hearts 3 in the works!

According to a few who've seen the included footage, the next Shadow Hearts will take place in America in 1929 and feature a number of past characters.

  9. Gametrailers have a short trailer for Shadow Hearts: From Then New World. It shows off characters, setting (US in 1920s), some of the combat.

Looks interesting, but minute you see it, it gives FFX vibe. Maybe its the way characters dressed, or maybe music. Its nothing bad, just kinda different.
