Yep, I listed off 100% of everything that got damaged. A total of four items, which is damn lucky for the kind of scorching you'll be seeing once I get those pictures up somewhere.
Ok then, that's a trip to the mall on Tuesday (I work anyway so I'll be there no matter what) to snag those. I didn't know they existed or I wouldn't have had this problem to begin with. Thanks for the info.
The front is significantly darker than the bottom, although that's to be expected, but the front bottom battery still has a logo while the front top one has an albedo of just about zero. Seriously, there's a second battery in there on the top photo. Just remember- Duracell, the charcoal-topped battery!
Now you may notice on the second photo that there's two mysterious holes on the charger back. Care to guess what went in them? Here's a clue-
The second to last outlet on the right was where it was plugged in. Notice how you can't see any holes to plug things into? Care to guess what's blocking them off? Yep, it's the plug from the charger, melted into the power strip.
Ok, that's the primary damage documented, now lets see what happened to the innocent bystanders. First off, the less damaged of the two, the Ninja Gaiden wall scroll in both a close-up and farther back view-
Not so bad from a distance, I suppose. Hey Melf, if you're reading, it's yours free now if you still want it. PM me and I'll send it your way.
And finally, the sad fate of the Megaman backpack. If there's women or children around I'd advise them to look away, lest they be scarred by the horrors unleashed this day-
And there you have it, an almost unusable super-rare promo item, destroyed by the searing heat of overcharged batteries. When I said above that I felt really lucky that this is all that happened, I wasn't kidding.
I've got those IC-3 batteries now, a full charge in 15 minutes and the charger even has a little fan in it to keep things cooler. I was kind of surprised by how warm they were after that first charge, but it all worked out right. I don't think I'll be conducting future electric experiments for a good long while.
