Wasn't the Matrix Online rumored to be in development far earlier than this? I thought I remember reading about it in the rumors section of OPM or EGM. This announcement is closer to Segadud than Segaton.

not only was it indevelopment, but ubisoft was publishing the game up until a few weeks (months?) ago. in what was probably one of their better moves, they dropped the title.

Yeah, I just dug up IGN's E3 preview. First Monolith, then Ubisoft, now Sega. It's been around the block a bit. If Sega thinks this game will be huge, why didn't it make more of an impact in either of the past 2 E3's?

Why the fuck would they put up huge banners advertising The Matrix Online, and issue a press release today announcing that they are co-publishing it, when they said themselves that they would reveal their announcement May 12th in their conference room?
