how do i record audio streaming from the soundcard?

I have cool edit pro, and I was wondering if theres a way to record what the soundcard is playing. I have a movie file which uses a mostly unsupported codec which has an unbelievably awesome sounding guitar in it that I'd like to find out about.

any advice would be much appreciated!

It depends on your soundcard I suppose. I have an audigy 2 and i can simply select to record "what u hear" and cool edit pro will record whatever I happen to be listening to at the time. It is quite handy for recording songs off Rhapsody, game music, ect...
