I don't think we need an alternative to fossil fuels as much as we need to quit being so wasteful with it.

People need to drive less, consume less, and just use less energy in general.

We need to make efficiency a priority, maybe even our top priority.

The concept of supply and demand is an anachronism, and we can no longer afford to base our society around it.

We need to start thinking of our consumption in terms of supply and necessity.

No, actually we need an alternative. Since its a limited resource and its rapidly (relatively speaking) dwidling. The world isnt going to magically change to a non supply and demand society. The only time that will happen is in the future when there is no alternative to gasoline and we've run out of that. Or perhaps when transporter beams are finally invented and perfected.
