The Legend of Zelda: The Four Swords Adventures is shaping up to be what looks like an excellent, albeit very unique, addition to the Legend of Zelda series. Though a multiplayer party game in the vein of both Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles and Bomberman may not have seemed like the next logical step for the series to take, it should serve as, if nothing else, a fun diversion to tide fans over until The Wind Waker 2 is released.
For the longest time, Nintendo has been hellbent on promoting its slightly misaligned "connectivity" mantra. For quite a while now, GameCube and GBA gamers have been waiting for the time that they would be able to link their favorite console machines together and truly experience a great video-gaming achievement. It looks as though this wait is finally over. Four Sword Adventures is currently climbing the charts in Japan, and is about to be unleashed on the U.S. gaming public in a couple of months. Originally intended to be released along with the potentially-dead-in-the-U.S. Tetra's Trackers, and the only-in-Japan Shadow Battle, it seems as though somewhere along the way Nintendo decided that FSA could stand on its own. And it can.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords + is one of our top GameCube games so far this year. It's fluid action all the way, absolutely no problem to pick up and learn for even the most novice of gamers, striking to look at and lengthy enough to keep you going for months. And we've still not played it in English.
This is the basis on which the continual wonder of Four Swords is built. Every new use of the world on your GBA will delight you, every impossible-seeming puzzle will dissolve into inevitable clarity. Every well-known face and half-remembered tune amplifies the game's dense atmosphere. Every boss battle, re-imagined to make the most out of the game's quartet of Links, will amaze you. Every mini-game, made available courtesy of the loopy Tingle, will remind you of happy hours whiled away in Hyrule and Lon-Lon. To explain any of them here would rob potential players of one of those moments of familiar magic and fresh dazzle, and this magazine is no such thief.
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure is shaping up to be one of the best multiplayer games out this year. Stay tuned to myGamer as we will have a review up of the game shortly after it’s June 7th release.
The choice of purchase now lies with you, the gamesplayer. Either way, consider this an essential purchase if you own a Gamecube, as it is a wonderful title with love and magic present in abundance. One sure-fire classic in the making, one surprisingly entertaining competition section and an average battle game. That's called value for money and Nintendo even throw in a GBA to Gamecube lead for free. Go on, treat yourself to a slice of 2D magic and show that once again, some of the best multiplayer experiences don't have to be online.

  2. One of the mini-games called Navi/Tetra's Trackers was left out so they could port it quicker.

  3. When did you start making decent threads?

Anyhoo, the demo at E3 was pretty fun. I'll get it.

you need to be a dick more often.

i think i played it last year, or it could have been tetra's trackers, i'm not too sure. but i liked what i played.
    All is well.

  5. E3 bring out the normal person in me.

If FF:CC didn't beat it to the finish line, this would be the worst game design of all-time.

  7. I need to find out how long/good the new multiplayer story game is, if it's good, I'll pick it up.

  8. If you like Zelda games then you'll like this one, simple as that. There's not much plot (short intro and epilogue for each mission), the music will do your head in (bad quality midi Zelda theme, looped) and the puzzles are very simple but it's Zelda, and it's 4 player which should be enough for fans.

I've heard nothing but glaring positives for this so far... until someone without crap tastes has something bad to say about the game, this is a must-have for me. It also helps that I can very easily find 3 other people to play with.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

  10. ...4 swords looks a lot like gauntlet. Does it play like gauntlet?
