Not enough physical activity, perhaps to much caffeine or stimulation (internet, tv, video games) that will do it.

  2. I have a hard time sleeping because I think too much. Two things I've found that help me get to sleep quicker are excersize and reading. The excersize uses lots of energy and forces lots of oxygen into your system, and reading, for me, causes me to lose focus on anything else and eventually fall asleep.
bastard of the new world order.

As for the part about having nothing to wake up for, a good way to deal with that is to set up goals are little rewards for yourself each day. Make the goal something really small, or if it's something big, let every little tiny bit of progress count. That should help with that part.

For me, reading does the opposite unless I'm totally exhuasted or studying more than reading. If I'm reading something entertaining I'll actually fight sleep to try to finish it. Some of my certification books can put me under quick if I don't stay focused though.
Taking it one day at a time.

  4. yah i cant fall aslepp this the closet thing to insomia thread...

  5. I can't fall asleep until I can't stay awake.

Always had the same problem, and the only way to deal with it is to get up after 6-7 hours of sleep, so I'll be tired enough to go to sleep at the same time next time.

If I don't regulate my sleep, I go into this cycle where I'll be awake for 20-22 hours, and sleep 9-11 hours. I actually feel better this way, but it's not practical.

It's a fucking horrible habit, and I wish there was some way to break it, but right now I don't care since everything fun happens at night anyways.
That isn't Chronic Insomnia, that is you staying up late downlowading porn for a week straight, causing your biological clock to get fucked up.

Do something really physically hard for a day, and you will probably get over it.

  9. I know of a great way to break it, as this usually works for me. Next time it's getting around 6-8 am and you feel yourself getting sleepy, throw on a pot of coffee and just stay awake through the night. Force yourself to stay awake until the following evening, and you will be exhausted enough to go to sleep at a reasonable hour. You have to try and keep a decent schedule after doing this, or you will just revert right back to your old sleep schedule. Forcing yourself to stay awake with lots of coffee or soda or whatever your caffeine adminstration of choice is can get you get quite a bit of work done that day as well.

  10. I had a 2 week bout with it except it was much worse. I couldn't fall asleep until 4-6am and would only sleep until 9am at the latest and be dead tired the next day but unable to sleep. I eventually started swallowing allergy pills like they were candy (because they cause drowsiness) and got back on a sleeping schedule and it went away.
