How many of you have seen the trailer. I didn't pick up on it before --- but did anyone catch the guy that looks strangely similar to Raiden (or perhaps a clone)?

Looks like MGS3 is going to try to piece together any loose ends established from MGS2.

What else have you noticed?

bahn: I'd noticed that. Based on the similarity between what happened to Raiden when he met the President in MGS2, and what happened to that Raiden look-alike in MGS3's trailer, it might be safe to assume that there's a link between the two characters. Perhaps the origins of the Patriots and the all that cloning that went on in the MG world will be explored in MGS3?

I got a kick out of how Naked Snake/Big Boss is the one that put the Revolver in Revolver Ocelot. Not really something I picked up, as it's super obvious, but I liked that part no matter. Also the "link between infantry and artillery" being the explanation for the Metal Gear name was pretty sweet.

The Raiden look-a-like crotch grabbbing scene is indeed funny shit. I hope they don't put too much plot significance in that character, as the world has enough Raiden information already.

Well according to the leaked info, the Raiden-lookalike's name is
Ivan Radeinovich Raskov and he's Thunderbolt's lover.

Regardless, I don't think he's actually related to Raiden at all, but rather Kojima probably wanted to give back to all those people who thought that Raiden was teh gay a chance to make fun of him by including a homosexual lookalike in the third game. From what was shown in the leaked casting call, I don't think Raidenovich is a major character at all (almost all of his test lines were ripped off from MGS2). In other words, he's a joke character, not unlike Johnny Sazaki.

I was under the impression that they mean he was the lover of "Master" or "The Boss", i.e. the chick that looks like a female version of Raiden.

He is next in line behind the Major, and also the Major's lover.

Isn't the Major of the GRU "The Boss" who is Ocelot's mother. I thought Thunderbolt was a Colonel, not a Major

Well...

Thunderbolt was listed as "Colonel Thunderbolt" in the Showfax's website if I recall correctly, but in the leaked Casting Call, he's just plain old Thunderbolt. There's a few minor discrenpacies between the names in Showfax's and the leaked document, but Raidenovich is definitely Thunderbolt's lover, not the Boss's.

And yes, the Boss is Ocelot's mom.
