I picked one of these up for 20 bucks at Gamestop a couple weeks ago. I prefer the small size, it vibrates, works on all 3 consoles (I can't get it working on my Dreamcast through my PS-DC adapter though), it seems really durable for a mass produced stick and it's got cool Soul Calibur 2 art on it. And it's cheap. I don't understand why people like huge joysticks, what's the upside? The downside is I'm restricted in comfortable positions to be in while using it and it's a pain in the ass to transport the bigger it is. Small's the way to go.
