this is like brain overload. so many lego pieces!! I'm going to make something cool this weekend.
What render settings are you using?
Ideally, I'd like to get something to output like this: http://www.ldraw.org/gallery/album35...nson_large.png
...But I have no clue how.

I'm using the LGEO library for the good quality rendering...
When i was a kid we couldnt afford LEGOs. i mean, common. $10 for a set that builds a small spaceship? fuck that. i had K`NEX. they were the poor-mans lego/linkin logs.
but this, this intreuges me.
K'Nex were cool too. They used to be manufactured in my hometown, huge building with the logo on it. Not sure where they moved to, but they made cool building toys. Not as cool as Lego, but I could still appreciate them. I bought a small K'Nex Mechwarrior model for shits and giggles last year, it's pretty cool. Now, the huge ones... those are awesome.Originally Posted by Rhydant
Still, this Lego stuff is blowing my mind. Never running out of blocks is a damned childhood dream. And they're always the right color. I can't seem to find some of the blocks I need sometimes, though. Still havent' seen the 1x2 with a hole in the middle yet.![]()
A few months ago, Lego announced they were going back to basics, with less of an emphasis on licensed sets like Harry Potter and more on the regular old bricks as well as old-school themes.Originally Posted by Mikey
I loved Legos when I was a kid. I could barely afford any, though - the centerpieces of my collection were a castle and a pirate ship. Incongruous, I know, but hey... whatever. I remember when they first started to make heads that weren't the generic smiley one, and the glow in the dark ghost was the fucking king of the world. Man I loved that shit.

Haha, awesome. I remember when my sister and I got a castle that had our first ghost. It's amazing how little things like that seemed so exciting and revolutionary to us at the time.Originally Posted by AstroBlue
I think all this talk has inspired me to pull some of the old sets up out of the basement.
Indeed. I personally think a childhood without Lego is no childhood at all.Originally Posted by Grave

I was a bit old to pick up any of the sets with the new heads or "the ghost" but I remember seeing them and being amazed.
I've been debating on picking this thing up since it released:
