Thread: MVS and carts

  1. Frown MVS and carts

i want to put a machine somewhere, hopefully to make a little extra cash on the side and have a constant supply of laundry money. wondering if their's anything I should look out for, something i could overlook, and if it's worth it or not. opinions would be appreciated.

also wondering about the best places (preferably online) to find a 2-4 slot mvs machine and some good carts for cheap. i was checking out ebay and i saw some cart prices for around $20, does that sound right? i always thought they were much more expensive than that, even for the lamer ones.
    All is well.

  2. There are lots of places to get MVS games. Being in CA, you should have more stuff local to you too.

Check out www.snk-capcom.com. Very trustworthy and top notch service.

Ebay is also great. Just stay away from user: caroles-collectibles. Do a search on www.neo-geo.com to find out why.

The prices sound right, but I don't know your route well enough to say that games in the $20 range would get played or how interested the locals would be in "old" games. Most MVS stuff aside from the brand new games cost in the $30-$90 range if you don't want the full kit. Lame carts go for as little as $5, but shipping might bump them back up to $10. I recently got a box of 20 MVS games for $200 + shipping from ebay, so low prices are out there. I've never put a machine out to make money, so I can't really comment on that...

As for best places to find games, I might look into getting something from Mdgamesales...you used to be able to order from their site, but I think they've gone eBay only. Places like www.neostore.com and http://www.arcadeshock.com/ are reputable dealers, but they seem to specialize in collectors, so their prices will be much higher than what you might find on eBay since they're guaranteed not to be bootlegged or even very scratched...in short, I'd stick to eBay and stay away from caroles-collectibles since they're a pretty big bootlegger/cheat (e.g. best case you get a boot, worse case you get cheated).

I'd look locally for a cab, if I were you. I only got mine from the web since I wanted a fancy japanese one. If you're out to make money, you can save a lot on shipping and probably find a great deal on a cab by asking local arcades what they want for one. I've heard of people getting 4-slot cabs with games for about $200 and driving it home themselves, thus saving like $500+ over ordering on the web.

    Hope this helps...

  4. there's a nickel city that's sorta close that's selling some machines. i don't know if any of them are mvs, i think i'll give them a call sometime. thanks for the info.
    All is well.
