If anything I think the original Sonic has managed to become underrated in 2014.edit: there may also be a defensive element from the Sega kids since they get shit on kind of a lot by biased, ignorant revisionist Nintendo history on youtube and, really, across all modern game journalism. I constantly defend Sega these days for that very reason. Go back 20 years and I'd never have dreamed of doing that.
Couldn't agree more. Sonic 1 to 3 are still masterpieces, especially in terms of elegant, simple, yet deep controls and physics. No one has ever really been able to do that as well without just copying it exactly.
