Say hello to my little friend. http://store.myradiostore.com/dubldico.html

Its a little pricey, but cheaper than a new head unit, and it will do what you want. Installtion is cake, you pull the factory head, and plug this device in line with the changer.

nice. that's exactly what i'm looking for. i don't see my car listed on their compatibility chart, though. it only goes up to the 2003 model.

i'll call them, in any case.

Now, I'm the kind of person that can't tell the difference between a decent MP3 and the original CD usually, but I can tell a HUGE difference when playing my iPod through one of these things. Lower-level parts of songs get almost totally washed away. Quality in general is crap. And, unless you've got a perfectly clear station - near impossible in any decently-sized city - quality will be even more of a problem.

I would absolutely avoid one of the radio station broadcasting options, unless it is your only way.

And I'm with Kenshin - it is utterly ridiculous that in 2004, with as many MP3 players as there are out there, that it is not easier to find a car stereo with a Line In option on the front.

But yeah, if you don't have a line in, your options are the tape and the RF. My girlfriend has one of those tape adapters for her CD player and it worked with my mini and it sounded just fine with her stock stereo and speakers, so don't automatically toss that option aside.
They have ipod car holders that connect to the vent
