Thread: Justice League Unlimited

  1. The other episode I saw in which the league had to turn into kids was so damn lame as well. I fucking LOATHE all that magic shit. That Batman episode back in the day that had that magic guy in it (Entrigan or whatever) was so bad, I couldn't believe they decided to carry it over into the Justice League. I don't understand why idiotic plotlines like that are allowed to be made into episodes.

What!? I liked both of those episodes.

I think these episodes with magic weilding villians create a good challenge for the heroes in the animated DCU.It makes them think of clever ways to defeat their opponents and usually makes for good story telling.
Like in the Little Leaguer episode. With all of the fighting against Mordred that went on -all for naught,as it took one smart line from Batman to end the little brats' reign of terror.
The Etrigan/Batman episode you mentioned above showed us just how vulnerable Batman can be against magic without some outside help. For all of the Bats' gadgets, how do you combat someone who can turn you into a tree of thorns?

To each his own I guess though.I think both of those were solid stories and had some good entertainment value to them.

The Wonder Woman turning into a pig episode was a horrible travesty though, storyline wise, plot wise, action wise. It was just done all wrong. There was nothing entertaining about watching Wonder pig runabout in a slaughterhouse OR having Batman sing some sappy love song.

The Poison Ivy pic is awesome, 200 times better than the pale Ivy revamp from the New Adventures of Batman...

  4. My problem with the magical stuff in the Batman episodes is that I feel it has no place in this animated universe. Almost every other person derives their powers from some scientific reasoning (I'm just looking at batman for now). Joker, Clay Face and Two Face are the results of chemicals gone wrong. Penguin and Killer Croc are genetic abnormalities. Mad Hatter and the Riddler are brilliant minds gone insane, Scarface is the product of a man's psychological disorder. All these people, despite having super abilities are still grounded to reality in some way.

When you toss in magical people in there who can bend the laws of space and time with a flick of the wrist, it just doesn't work.

I have a some what easier time believing in some one like Mxyesptlix (or whatever) because his powers come from the fact that he is a being from another universe, not from some arcane magical spells.

In essence I guess it boils down to science fiction verses fantasy.

Hm, Well...individual tastes I guess. I always think they're a good change from the norm.

You know that Batman supposedly learned some skills from Zatarra the magician right (Zattana's dad)?

Maybe thats how he has a hell of an aim with those Batarangs......they are magic...

  6. New episode on this Saturday :

    Here's how the network describes the episode;

"The Justice League meets the Ultimen, a popular group of young heroes who are about to discover their own horrifying secret origins."

Looks like we have the regulars + Aquaman starring....

    and some Bizzaro....

  7. I'm not expecting much... this show has been a huge letdown.

  8. Finally, some more new episodes! Watching THE Batman is not as satisfying.

I loved that ep. The fighting and story was weak, but the dialoge is great. Kids show their emotions way more then adults and that episode pretty much started a love angle between batman and wonderwoman

uhhhh, no. That started way back in Season one in the Gorilla Grodd episode. <flexes inner Geek muscles>

But I also liked the Junior Justice League ep. Story, dialogue, and action was all there IMO.

There've been some good ones. Most of which star the Green Arrow, and other little known heroes.--- BOOSTER GOLD!
