It's called suspending and I have a good friend who does it every couple of months (just not outside on bamboo tripod, although I'm sure he'd be down for it someday) and he's one of the coolest people I know. It takes a huge amount of focus and meditation to go through with it and I've got all kinds of respect for someone who can do it without making a single peep. Of course you'll never in a million years see me doing it.
