    Scanning out of art books

There are many a moment in my life that I'd like to scan something out of a book. Yet with each attempt I leave frustrated because the results always come out looking like shit due to the curve of the spine.

How do people get scans of pictures in books, and mangas and fix this problem?

    Scissors.

  3. There's not a perfect way to get them without either severe damage to the spine or removal of the page. having a scanner with those special hinged backings that raise up an inch or two can help a little bit so you can fit half the book in instead of trying to hang one page in, but other than that...

You're kind of stuck with the bad curve shadows and all that.

  4. The curve shadow can also be removed in photoshop, but assuming it's a full-color image you're scanning, it's much more complicated than text or a line drawing.
