But yeah, Halo 2 definitely. ESPECIALLY if they stick a Live co-op mode in. But yeah, anyone who isn't playing Halo 2 on Nov. 9th is a LOSER for reals.
    i aint playing it on the 9th, and i ain't a looser!

Metroid Prime was great and all, but Halo 2 is Halo 2. It will have a much improved single player, as well as the greatest multiplayer known to man.
    apparently not everyone thinks so!

If you say you have no interest in Halo 2 multiplayer, there is something seriously wrong with you.
the doc said i'm very healthy. for now i have zero interest in Halo 2 just like Cheebs said.

    =/

Anyway, single player Halo wasn't all that. I was at the forefront of the "Halo Is Not All That" Club back when it came out because I had, uhhh, placed PC FPS games before and knew that this was nothing new, level-design wise. But COMBAT-wise, that's a different story. It's not called COMBAT EVOLVED for nothin'.

As such, Halo 2 multiplayer on Live or even co-op over Live will be better than MP2's single player. And MP2's multiplayer. I have never played or seen either, yet I am completely confident in this statement. And I am FAR from a Halo fanboy, believe me. That game gets an 8/10 in my book.

Metroid Prime was a great game, but I beat it already, and have never had a need or a want to revisit it. I've played co-op through Halo with buddies many, many times. Halo 2 will just have more legs, and that's that. No matter what Prime tries to do with its multiplayer, Halo 2 already wins because:

    1) it's on Live
    2) it has vehicles
    3) basically it's Halo, only better.
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1
    My Backloggery

  3. The best single-player FPS ever was No One Lives Forever anyway, not Halo (and it wasnt Half-Life, for that matter).

Halo 2 looks incredible, though, and the multiplayer looks fucking insane. The developers at Bungie are busting their asses to make both modes stand alone. Even if you didnt really care for Halo 1's singleplayer (and I didnt!), Halo 2 looks good enough that you should care.

As for Metroid Prime 2... it looks exactly like the first game. But with split-screen deathmatch. Eh.

People will be playing Halo 2 for the next 3 years, just like they play Halo 1 now. Metroid Prime 2 will be collecting dust on the pre-played shelf at EB for the next 3 years, just like MP now. Not that MP2 will be bad, just that nobody will give a shit about it.

    The choice is obvious.

You're almost right. It depends on if you consider Deus Ex to be an FPS.

And in ten years, I think the Prime series will be more highly regarded than the Halo series, because of its fantastic single-player experience. What's your point? The question is what you're looking forward to more, not what you'll play longer. Better multiplayer may equal more replay, but think of it like sex: Is the partner that put out the most times for you automatically your best lay?

    Or something.

I dont believe that news. I havent really seen any evidence that single-player allows for more... umm memories (or legacies, if you will), than multi-player. My favorite game of all time, Team Fortress Classic, is multiplayer. And I know Im not alone. Also, Ill remember roaming the galaxy in SWG long after I forget about whatever hit-of-the-month console game is out now.

Think about it: do people remember Warcraft 2's single-player? Not really (except for the story which led into WOW and War3). Do people remember Unreal Tournament's single-player? Not really. What about Quake? Hell no. But those are still 3 of the best games ever. The list goes on. Even people still talk about how great Goldeneye 007 was, and thats not really for the singleplayer, either.

  6. All the single-player offerings in those games are complete rubbish though.

Not saying that people can't enjoy MP more, or longer, but given a game with both being good, the single-player stuff sticks in my mind longer.

  7. Yea, exactly - I listed games with rubbish single-player but amazing multiplayer to show that multiplayer can be very memorable (and Warcraft 2's singleplayer was quite good).

Anyway, singleplayer sticks in your mind more, multiplayer definitely sticks in mine longer, which shows that its a crapshoot anyway and thus Nick's point is invalidated.

  8. Multi-player Halo is the most fun I've ever had playing a videogame. I'm sure this will stick in my mind far longer than any single-player game. It's all just personal preference.

Notthing should be compared to Metroid multiplayer, because in my world, it doesn't exist. I trield the mutliplayer Metroid demo at E3 this year just to say that I did and walked away with a bad taste in my mouth.

Halo 2's multiplayer shall be magical to say the least, and I will happy to play with everyone on Live, right after I spend some quality time with Metroid Prime 2.

Also, I need someone to clarify, how does having vehicles automatically make it a better multiplayer experience? As far as I know, Counter-Strike doesn't have any vehicles, and from what I hear, it's stilled the most played multiplayer game on the internet.

As far as experiences go, I have more memorable moments in gaming through single player than I have had through multiplayer, it all depends on the person.

Like the Worms series, or PowerStone 2, or DoA2, etc.. Multi-player can be quite memorable.

Have you taken down a tank with a Needler? Vehicles own. Halo 2 will own. I'll be playing Halo 2 for the next three years, easily.
