Whatever. It took them damn long enough.

It looks really shitty and dull, like a hi-res port of the N64 game. Kinda like Mario Golf for the GameCube.
Why am I not surprised at this.

Yeah..not exactly. The environments and character models are eons better than the N64 version and I couldn't really imagine them looking better with anymore polygons than they have. Also from those screens, it looks like there's plenty of new stuff added like the giant squid, lizards all over the court, etc. This seems like a totally acceptable upgrade to a sports game, and I don't really know what more you would ask for.Originally Posted by diffusionx
Now if the game itself is watered down or any less than the previous entries in the series, like Nintendo has enigmatically done in the past with some games, then I think it will be worth criticizing it. But until then...come on. These games are fun, and if you really want to jump on Nintendo for a lack of originality(which I think is warranted these days), there are better games to attack than an update of a tennis game.
This game was and still is the shit for N64. THE party game to play.
Ive always liked mario tennis better than virtua tennis, because of the different curves on the shots with different characters. You can play mind games on the serves, especially with a character like Boo or DK. You couldn't really do that in Virtua.
The charge shots are a gamble too in certain situations (returning serves) and added a whole other level of depth that other tennis games dont have.
As long as it runs smooth (the first one had some slow down) and they dont mess anything up, AND toad is playable again - it'll rock fo' sho'.
NowPlaying: Battlefield series . DarkSouls . MGS collection . Cap+SNK fighters . AceCombat series . ArmoredCore series
Well, thats Mario Tennis alright. I hope they bring out some of the lesser characters for play. Koopa Kids and Shyguys are where it's at.
This is one of the games I've been looking forward to most since buying a GC.![]()
I love these games because they don't pretend to be realistic-Top Spin comes to mind here-and fail miserably.
That's the same way I feel about all sports games.
The cynics were saying the exact same thing when footage of Super Smash Bros. Mele started surfacing, and it turned out to be one of the Gamecube's premier titles.Originally Posted by diffusionx
On the other hand, Mario Golf for Gamecube was definitely a weak an unnecessary update, so who knows how this one will turn out.
I remain optimistic.
