Word > Works fo sho.
And yeah, you'd think the two would be able to share files flawlessly.
I hate everything, especially word processing software.
Why is that every computer you buy nowadays force-feeds you Microsoft Works yet for some reason every computer in your University has Word and only Word?
Oh and why does the Convert system for recovering text from any other document unto Word sucks so much ass? I tried a recovery and my entire 5 page essay came out completely out of order and covered to the brim in garbage. There's nothing else to do aside from a complete rewrite and this lab won't let me print anything without a card that can only be bought in a building 2 miles away(relatively). Can I seriously get away with telling the professor this entire story and just say: "Okay here just borrow my laptop, the assignment is on that." ??
Oh and who was the lamebrain that decided that the printer I bought specifically for printing stuff off my laptop should not come with the necessary cables to actually connect the fucking things together?
Are these people still breathing? If so then why?
So now thanks to all this fucking bullshit I am now sitting in a computer lab with the laptop sitting precariously on my lap while I re-type the paper just so I can have it sit there while I travel through shitty college drivers(My car got totalled last thursday thanks to some goon that wasn't paying attention) to find this fucking card so I can use it maybe once or twice before I slit my wrists with it.
So in short, Fuck Microsoft and their sorry excuses for having TWO WORD PROCESSORS THAT CAN'T SHARE TEXT PROPERLY and this University is ran by tools.
Oh and the textbook suppliers are run by Nazi Germany. $180 for a textbook is absolute madness.
HELLOOOOOOOOOO COLLEGE....again
Word > Works fo sho.
And yeah, you'd think the two would be able to share files flawlessly.

Well at least you arn't using wordperfect. I use that for everything and yet no one else uses it for anything.
If it's just paragraphs, I'd copy and paste it to your email, email it to yourself, log into said email on a campus computer, then copy and paste that to Word. You may have to fix a few formatting things, and then print. Yes, a round the world way of doing shit, but it is still better than trying to get word and work to figure each other out.
Works isn't a word processor though, it's the predecessor to MS Office. :S
If it means that much to you, I have a copy of Works 3.0 you can have. I hardly use it now.
Well there, finished re-typing it. I guess maybe it was better this way since I noticed a crapload of errors and fixed them. Now if only I could get this crap printed without going to Russia.
What's really going to suck however is converting my sometime-this-century-finished books I've been writing. 300 page conversions? Lord..
In Works: Copy the text
In Word: Paste Special (unformatted text)
Or save it as an unformatted .txt file, open in Word, and reformat. There are many ways to get around re-typing.
P.S. - Install OpenOffice (it's free) on your laptop. That can save as .doc format and come pretty close to Word's .doc format.
printers have NEVER come with the cables... it's been that way for 20+ years now... get used to it.
Also, I have bought 5 or 6 computers in my lifetime and have never had Works come with it.

Finally, something I can blame MS for (inside joke) ;p
PC manufacturers shovel off that Works dreck because they are too cheap to give you the real deal, whereas Universities will pony up the cash for a network license (or MS donates it, as I believe is the case at my school).
