Even though I used to love the stuff... I don't like character designs like this and Tales of Symphonia anymore. They aren't true SD, but they still have those "anime proportions." Still, if it's good, I'll check it out.
Thanks to GAF (neo2046):
Appearently an upcoming Famitsu will have a bunch of pages concerning this.
Nothing more really known at the moment other than a url:
http://www.radiata.jp/
which just currently redirects to tri-ace HP.
ps: as discovered at that board, the redirect works for all tri-ace pages and images so I wouldn't expect to discover any hidden treats just yet.
Case in point:
http://www.radiata.jp/product/vp/battle/b18.jpg
http://www.tri-ace.co.jp/product/vp/battle/b18.jpg
So let's not get too speculative here
e1: gamefront.de is first with online scans (which I have mirrored):
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

WARNING: This post may contain violent and disturbing images.
Looks like a graphically weaker Final Fantasy Chrystal Chronicles. It is Tri Ace, so maybe it'll play better.

ugh ugh ugh sucky and generic art.
hope it plays better than SO3.
bitchez, where is my valkyrie profile 2!?
In the latest issue of Famitsu, Square Enix's latest title, Radiata Stories, is revealed. This new RPG is being developed by tri-Ace, creators of Valkyrie Profile and the Star Ocean series, and is currently scheduled to be released in Japan next Spring for the PlayStation2.
The two main characters in the story are Jack Russell, Ridley Timberlake, both 16 years old, with a total of more than 150 characters, including Lezard Valeth. Scans from this week's Famitsu can be found at SquareNet. A domain name has also been registered by tri-Ace - radiata.jp.
I dunno, they look good to me. They're a little less readily identifiable than most, I suppose, but they seem to have a certain unifying design element to them, like they're actually from the same world, rather than many RPGs where the characters are so outlandishly and differently designed that if you saw them outside of the context of the game, you wouldn't necessarily guess the designs were related. I think it makes it a little more believable in that way.ugh ugh ugh sucky and generic art.
Reminds me alot of FF:CC's style. Can't wait to see what they did for the battle system on this one.
The mere mention of Tri-Ace and Nippon Ichi gets me excited and so of course, I am excited to hear a new game from them. I can't view the screenshots right now due to Bess, but I will indeed take a look once I get home.
150 characters? ... Hrm...
Noriyuki Iwadare was just named as the composer. Should have a good soundtrack then.

I dunno, Iwadare went very glam rock/keyboard solo heavy in SO3. Some tracks were notable but it's his weakest game soundtrack IMO.Originally Posted by Survival Kid
I've heard the gameply is somewhat akin to Valkyrie Profile as well, with all characters having a signature finisher and combo capability with other chars.
