Need help in decision to get an Xbox

Do you already have a PS2? If you don't have any console from this gen, the PS2 should be your first choice, as it gets all the multiplatform titles (which happen to be almost all the top Xbox titles) and has a much better library of exclusives - unless you're modding the Xbox.

And if you really have to ask for input like this, it just means you can't justify the purchase to yourself at the present time, so you're probably better off waiting.

Well, it'd really, really help if you gave us a list of those games you wanna get, or at least a list of genres you like. Or if online gaming interests you. Or if you own any of the other systems.

Ultimately, the Xbox has the best version of most multiplatfor games, some really good exclusives (KOTOR, Jade Empire, Ninja Gaiden, PGR2, Rallysport Challenge 2, Outrun 2, JSRF, PDO, Otogi off the top of my head), has a lot of PC-centric games and ports (really good if your PC is stuck in the stone age) and has the best (and most) online enabled games. And it can be modded, if you're into that sort of thing.

If those things don't interest you, or if you knew all about what I said and you're still asking that question, then it sounds like you don't actually want one.

I was going to say something similar, but not as harsh. While the PS2 may have more games, I see a lot more XBOX games I'd rather play. I mean the last PS2 game I bought before Burnout 3 was Amplitude. Plus for multi-console releases I'd get the xbox version over the ps2 version (right now I get the GC version when I can).

Well I caved and picked on up today. Along with the box, I got Metal Gear Solid 2 (I'm a sucker for this series and even though I beat it on PS2 before my PS2 broke, the VR missions were enough to justify the purchase), the JSRF/Sega GT combo (only 5 bucks and I liked the first Jet Grind game), and Tony Hawk 2X (loved the first 2 TH games and thought this would be cool for nostalgia and it was also only 5 bucks). I opted for these games right now, cause I wanted to get a few games and most of the other games I wanted I would have only been able to get one.

As for the games I want and genres I'm into, the past 2 years or so, I've really lost a lot of interest in most genres, but I want to get back into them. I want to give Prince of Persia a try, Ninja Gaiden, Tenchu, maybe Splinter Cell. And a few others I can't think of right now. I definately plan on getting Guilty Gear when that comes out but wont get live till around xmas. Conker is probly my most anticipated xbox release.

You probably bought 3 of the worst games you can get for your starting games.

Metal Gear Solid 2 is an absolutely horrible port. JSRF is an awful, awful, awful sequel that doesnt deserve to wipe the ass of the original, and Tony Hawk 2X... well that was a good game... like 4 years ago.

A better bet wouldve been to take the $15 you spent on all those and buying Freedom Fighters or Deathrow or Panzer Dragoon Orta.

But, in any case, its good to see one more Xbox owner. w00t!
