Thread: Gridrunner++ Arse On Fire Edition now freeware

  1. PC Gridrunner++ Arse On Fire Edition now freeware

In celebration of the happy event of Jeff Minter (hereafter referred to as Yak) getting true broadband for the first time ever in his part of Wales, he's gone and released the harder, faster, more challenging Gridrunner++ into the wilds of the internet, free for all who wish to give it a go. With the brain-melting difficulty of this enhanced version it's difficult to tell if Yak is happy with the world or just trying give it a heart attack, but either way you look at it it's an amazing game that's free to anyone who wants it.

    Instructions:

    1) Go HERE and download it from the first post in the thread.

    2) Unzip

    3) Click on Gridrunner++ icon

    4) Swear. Lots.

    5) Get better.

Fair warning, this version was done for friends of Yak's at a party and contains a good chunk of swearing in it. Those worried about moms/dads/impressionable others looking at them funny might want to give it a miss.

Errata: Though the download plays perfectly fine it's missing the final audio mix. It's an easy enough fix, though, taking under a minute of any reasonably competent person's time. In Yak's words-

Those should be the proper ones. Unzip them into the data folder and replace the existing ones .

Sorry 'bout that, could have seemed rude to my co-swearers!

Those wishing to give Yak something for his efforts are encouraged to go to this website here and maybe buy the full version. It's not quite so spiffy as the AOF Edition but it is easier, so consider it good payment for a job well done rather than training wheels for the ultimate edition.

Update! An alternate download site for the above files can be found HERE.

  2. This the same Grid Runner of Saturn/PS1 fame?
    Check out my blog: ExHardcoreGamer.com

  3. No, it's far, far better. It's a modern-day update of the original Vic-20 and Commodore 64 game. Super fast 2D shooty fun.

    That rules.

I think he should include GR++ with Unity to expose more people to it.

  5. I wonder how many llamas he raped to make this possible.

  6. Not a one. All his pets put out.

  7. Big props for posting this up. I already had it, but it's good to see on the front page of TNL.

    Agreed there completely.

That Game Over music in AoFSE is hilarious.

    Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
