Thread: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

  1. Xbox 360 II

anyone do the Invisible village quest yet, pretty cool knowing that the invisible rats & wolves that attacked early in the game were NOT glitches

also a MUCH better alternative then using Light on your self or wasting magic on night eye when in dungeons

go to the market distract & to the heavy armor shop
there you can buy a helmet (the one from the early pics of the game) that has a yellow colored version of night eye always on

btw anyone thinking of abandoning Oblivion for Kingdom Hearts 2?

Oblivions main quest isn't that long. I think I will fool around with Oblivion for a while longer then get KH2 as my next game. This is a great game and I don't want to give it up because another great game is out. One at a time for me.

  3. you fags, fuck kingdom hearts.

Christ, this shit seriously enrages me to no end. Morrowind had all kinds of little interface niggles like this (including this exact one) that I prayed they would iron out for Oblivion. They really do have a serious negative impact on my enjoyment of the game when THEY'RE SO GODDAMN EASY TO FIX. WHO IS WORKING ON UI AND ERGONOMICS AT BETHESDA? ANYONE? THE SAME WORTHLESS ASS FROM MORROWIND?

And the worst part is mods were unable to alleviate any of the UI control issues in Morrowind. That part of the code was inaccessible I guess. I just hope that's not the case for Oblivion.
Yeah this really bugs me as well. It's the same with books. If you read them, you have to hit the "Exit" button on the lower right side of the screen. I'm going to look up mods to fix this.

I really liked that mod posted earlier in this thread that shrinked the screen text to a normal PC game size so that we can see more than 5 items per menu screen, but I didn't like all of the other unnecessary changes that mod did.

I have KH2, I've had it since Tuesday and put 4 hours into it. Oblivion has been out for a week longer, and I have like 4x as much hours into it.

You're in luck, because only KH2 is out.

Yep, it was just like that in Morrowind. And likewise with the Detailed/World map toggle. A teensy tiny button in the bottom right of the screen and no assignable hotkey. In high resolutions that button becomes miniscule and it's seriously laborious to have to track it down each and every goddamn time you want to toggle between map views... or end a conversation... or close a book. And with the size and average playing time of an Elder Scrolls game, you'll be running into these issues literally thousands upon thousands of times before you're done.

How on earth can they miss these things TWO HUGE GAMES IN A ROW? I can see one game, fine, they don't realize how irritating it is until it's too late to easily fix. This is conceivable (though we'd have to assume their code is written very shittily and/or they're extremely lazy). Fine. But then they go and make the EXACT SAME MISTAKE in their next game as if they're honestly just utterly oblivious. As if they never actually played Morrowind. It just boggles.

Ugh, so does the interface not shrink when you increase resolution like in Morrowind? In 1600x1200 I could fit like eighty inventory items, the detailed map, my character model, stats, and some spells. That was great.

  10. need some help with the first fighters guild quest. ive gotten to the part in anvil where i have to follow the neighbor lizard lady because the original rat owner thinks shes up to something. ive sat behind the house where the hole to the basement is and the lizard lady has done NOTHING for two whole nights to help me finish this quest. i've looked thru 20+ pages on the oblivion site and have foud nothing.

    also i don't understand the talking "mini-game".
