Thread: The NCAA Pigkin Thread (was Notre Dame vs. Michigan)

Ugh! I was supposed to go to the BC / Syracuse game in which BC clinches a spot in their first BCS bowl sat., but I can't make the drive out to Boston.

  2. Arizona State, the team that finished a distant, barely-worth-mentioning 3rd in the Pac-10, finished off Yoshi's vaunted Purdue (the team he said was better than Cal) today, making me laugh and showing once and for all he knows nothing about college football. And also showing that the Pac-10 is better than the Big 10, because, hey, a Pac-10 team will be playing for the national championship in a few days while the Big 10's champ was a lowly 9-2.

    LAFF!

USC may be the best team in the country right now (we'll see Tues) but that does not make the Pac-10 the best conference out there. How did Cal do in their bowl game again?

Oh, and Ted Ginn Jr. & the Bucks will be leading the Big 10 to a national title next year.

How did that powerhouse Cal do the other day? ... oh yea, nm.

    PAC-10 = Always soft.

  5. OU is going to crush USC on Tuesday. Seriously. Cal almost beat USC, and Cal was beaten soundly by Texas Tech in their bowl game. Texas Tech was crushed by both OU and UT. The Big 12 is the best conference.

The Oklahoma Cowboys nearly beat OU during thier championship season as well. Rivals always have a tough meeting. Those stats mean nothing. The Denver Broncos crushed Indianapolis during the regular season last year, but when Denver met them in the playoffs, they got a butt whoopin.

But college doesn't have a playoff system, so what else are we supposed to go on? The bowl games don't prove anything either, becasue so many of the elite teams never face each other.

The elite teams do face eachother, but some programs do get overlooked. Look at Utah last year(I think was was Utah anyways). They were undefeated last year, but were left to play some lower ranked team. Didn't they lose that game? Sure the BCS is very questionable, but until they implement some kind of playoff system, it's the best they can offer. The closest thing to a playoff system in College ball, is the conference championship. At least the conference champions, make it into some kind of bowl game.

  9. I remember walking into my Adv Physics class the friday before Ohio State Vs Michigan... (He's a michigan fan) tepee with red Os all around his room, and the ohio state fight song blaring... that was humorous. Oh and yeah, atrocious.

No they don't. Auburn is undefeated, and they haven't gotten a chane to play anyone in the top 5. Texas is ranked number 4, and the only top 5 team they've played is OU. The list goes on and on. The college football ranking system is a load of shit. The National Championship is a load of shit. Even if the National Champion goes undefeated, how many ranked teams will they have actually faced? College football basically sucks because there isn't a playoff system in place. It's sad, because college football would be great if the great teams actually got a chance to face each in a legitamate playoff system.
