The combat was good, but that doesn't save it from being a borefest.
I'd agree with this. I liked the combat and how you could avoid battles, but the story and characters were incredibly lame. I quit paying on the second disc.

    Of the Japanese version.

Which if you read a few posts under was changed for the American release.

Anyway, this game isn't getting anything close to good review at Game Rankings so I'm not planning to get it. Well, ok, I'll pick it up when it's 9.99 new.

  3. Did i say that FFVIII is a good game? I thought putting the "even" in there would make people read "Lunar SSSC is worse than the worst 32-bit Final Fantasy." So there, all spelled out for you.

I'm thinking $2.99, but i'd still like to play it. For Yuffie.

But thats wrong. The Lunar series is great and pwns most of the bland 32 bit FF games. Simple as that.

  5. It looks horrible, the review is universally bad. It is from Square that don't know how to make any good game outside of the RPG genre. Milking FF7 seems to be in vogue for Square, maybe they are learning something from EA.

NO YOU'RE WRONG!!! Lunar is stupid and dumb and bland. Both Grandia and SSSC i went into with so much hope for good games, and it was all crushed. Because they were boring. ):

  7. Whoever buys this Dirge of Faggerus should think twice and give me the money instead

I think we can all agree on that. I'll send you $2.99 as soon as it drops.

The 32-bit FF games were not bland. FF9 had the best prologue I have ever seen in any JRPG, an amazing first 4-5 hours. The entire game couldnt keep up the mo' but it ended up being a satisfying, big, polished JRPG - I cannot complain at all. Plus, the CG background work was just beyond beautiful, the game was just gorgeous. I think its unfairly criticized.

And FF7, even if you didnt like it, was a stunning achievement. Very memorable, I still remember fighting through Shin-Ra HQ and that first section where the game zooms down to the train station was mind-blowing. FF7 set the stage for the cinematic experiences that so many of today's best games are.

Lunar is overhyped garbage, though. I played the demo (of the PSX one) and could not stand it. A bunch of dorks bickering endlessly about stupid dragons and shit and then fighting in a worthless, retarded battle system. The dumb-ass "lets go on an adventure" storyline setup was always, always, inferior to anything Square did with FF. Self-important and overblown, yes, but at least Square tried.

p.s. your taste in games is shit. Pure shit.

  10. In my opinion Square fucking died and went straight down hill after FFVI and Chrono Trigger although FF Tactics and Einhander were very solid games...nothing else stands out.

Anything Square Enix releases will never ever be as good as those games, especially any game that has FFVII in it's title. All the shit they release now is all suger coated eye candy with no soul, and all the fanboys still run to it proclaiming it's the best thing ever made.
