  1. Sneak attack by EB Games

    Interesting bit from Evil Avatar:

EB Games is currently "selling" names when you purchase certain items from their website causing you to sign up for something called "Reservations rewards" which carries a 9 dollar a month fee. It's something I've never noticed since it's such a small transaction. This month on I didn't purchase anything on that credit card and noticed the transaction. Looking back, I see this transaction for 3 months!

Apparantly you sign up for "free" when you take advantage of certain promotions on EB Games site (in my case a 10 dollar rebate). They send you an email after a set period of time letting you know you will begin getting charged for this, the problem is it usually comes in as Spam and it looks like a spam message too.

You can find more reports like this on the Bad business Bureau site.

You can call the number and cancel fairly easily. I've already done that, but I'm out the 27 bucks.

Needless to say I will no longer be linking to EB Games in the Weekly Release nor will I recommend the website to anyone. Next on my list is to call EB Games themselves and file a complaint. So make sure you check your credit card statements, it shows up as Wli*reservationrewards.co 888-6885995 Ct or something similar with WLI in the name.
If you buy from them it may be in your best interest to double check your cc statement.

  2. I'm losing respect for EB as the days pass by. There's probably more to this story, though.

  3. That's sleazy on EB's part...what a third-rate scam. Still, it looks like they have all their bases covered legally.

I believe that EB is not above this.

  5. They got me on this as well, however I caught it in time and got my money back.

  6. Maybe you guys should read more.

It says RIGHT ON the reserveation rewards site that EB will transfer all your info, INCLUDING credit card number, in exchange for the 10 dollars off.

It also says that you get it for free for 30 days, and if you don't cancel they will charge you 9 dollars a month and just assume you want to keep it. This is why I didn't sign up for the 10 dollars off, because this information was made clear as day, and it's not EB's fault none of you read the disclaimer.

In my knowledge, the only thing this works on is the 10 dollar rebate, which is made very clear what is going on. I just think the guy was an idiot for not reading enough, and just thinking he was getting 10 free dollars.

He's trying to blame it on his email, but really, it's right under the coupon itself. That's the only reason I never got the 10 dollars off, because I know I'd forget to cancel and EBgames would win.

People should read stuff before they decide to submit ALL OF THEIR INFORMATION to 3rd parties they know nothing about.

  7. I did read, canceled my order on their site and I also CALLED the company to confirm the cancel well before my 30 days were up.

They however decided to bill me for 3 months anyway...

    They are a scam...

PS. I never got my 10 off from ebgames either...

Well, that's what you get when you submit every bit of your personal information, blindly I might add, and then don't keep track of your credit card bills.

I mean, how can people not know what's going on with their credit card?

I signed up NOT BLINDLY and knew exactly what was happening with my bills thank you very much.

However after numerous calls I kept being billed.

I then called my bank.. and had them put a block on them..

Stop acting like you know every thing about the situation or how well people balance a checkbook.

  10. Roufuss, could you BE more pretentious, shit. I've steered clear of EB's site for anything but can't-miss bargains, and this just makes me all the more wary of using their site for purchases. I'd rather not run the risk of being scammed at all than save a small amount of money in the short term.
