SEGA RALLY 2005

i'm surprised no one mentioned this, here goes...

Sega Rally 2005 PS2, dunno if this is the same as Sega Rally 3 that Yu Suzuki was suposed to be working on.

That's possible, although I think Colin McRae 2005 actually plays better than Saturn SR - check out this month's OXM disc. I dunno, I think McRae and Rallisport have both supassed this franchise by a mile; I just can't see much reason to get excited about it anymore unless they go the super-arcade route.

I agree. Colin McRae 04 is awesome, can't wait for 05.

Colin McRae is a great series, but it was more of a simulation rally than arcade. One of the reason people love Sega Rally/Rallisport so much is because they're much easier to get into.

anyways, Sega Rally 2005 looks good, a little on the plane side, i'm sure but the time it's released it will look better. more than anything, let's hope it's online.

You consider the MrRae series to be simulations??? eh.. I think they are arcade in gameplay. You want a rally sim??? Try Richard Burns Rally.. yeesh.. that thing is a pain in the ass.

I have little to no faith in Sega to make a great Rally game. I liked Sega Rally on Saturn more than any other game at that time, but the times have changed. I cannot tolerate the terrible control of Sega Rally 1 or 2 anymore. The cars just don't feel connected to the road.

I just don't think Sega Rally can compete with RalliSport or Colin McRea, or Gran Tourismo for that matter. I wish them all the best of luck, and I'd love to play another great Sega Rally, but I just don't think it's gonna happen.

Sega's development teams still can make a good racing game (take a look at Initial D or Outrun 2). I do not see why they could make a decent rally game (Sega's recent trend of jobbing nonwithstanding), but the standards sure as hell have risen -- the previous games have not aged well at all. Or maybe people just expect a tougher experience from rally racers; Rallisport Challenge and Colin McRae Rally are considered arcade-style games, and they're harder to drive than 95%+ of the racing games out there. This will probably compare to something like Outrun 2 on dirt and ice (in terms of how much the game tries to mimic reality -- not at all, in this case).

I can hope this game turns out great... right, guys? Sega can still make a good game, right?.....

(Yeah, there is the GBA Sega Rally game, except that game never happened.)
