I think it's kind of funny how so many people earlier this year were talking about how much this gaming season was going to suck. Now look at them
You're using DDR as proof of a solid gaming season?

Whatever forum you were on before must have sucked hard, because no one here ever mentionned such. This seasons is going to rock the casba.

  3. I can't believe they took out the groove meter in the DDR Extreme interface! Why the heck did they do that? I think I prefer DDRMax and DDRMax2 over DDREx right now. I only unlocked a few songs so far so that might change later on. Need to try out the Eyetoy stuff too... need an Eyetoy first.

Which one's the groove meter again?

...and is the original interface still in there so I can pretend the EyeToy never existed?

  5. The groove meter is the meter that shows you how much Air, Chaos, Voltage, and Stream a song has when you highlight a song. Pretty much tells you what to kinda arrows to expect in the song. You don't need to worry about the Eyetoy. You don't see any of that unless you go into Party Mode.

  6. Odd, the groove meter is very much present in the arcade Extreme. I don't even know why they bother to share the names between them, since they have little to nothing in common.

  7. Song list sucks.
    Exclusives suck.
Interface is like a fan made Stepmania skin.
Karaoke Revolution songs on there sound horrible.
Challenge mode is riddled with bullshit that isn't worth the effort.

Wow. Quite the turn around from what a well done mix Max2 USA was.

Let us all forget about this and await Ultramix2. Quad-Mode anyone? OMFG INSIDER INFO LOL~
    Play Guitar Hero //

  8. I tried the Eyetoy game on there that is a lot like Breakout. It was alright and kind of neat intill the stages started having, like, dungeon-like layouts and the blocks took twenty hits to destroy.
Also, A real quit option would have been nice for that game too.

  9. Haven't played the Eyetoy minigames, but can't you just put your hands over the camera for a few seconds to quit? That's what you had to do with Eyetoy Groove/

  10. OK.....
This is a dissapointing step back from Max2 US, but still fun. Songs are alright and steps are alright (although it doesn't resemble the arcade extreme seletion in any way)....and I guess that's what matters most. Oni mode returns and that kicks ass.

However, you will be scratching your head trying to figure out where all of the difficult songs went. On top of that, the new interface is ugly as sin. I mean, really, really amateur. A huge step down. At least it remains functional, but why remove the style? One addition that I really like is that you can jump to Oni mode or non-stop at any time. Finish 2 of your 3 songs and then start up an oni course, etc.

One huge dissapointment as long as they are breaking ties to the arcade version: Where's some new modifiers? Give me zig-zag arrows and arrows that slow down and all that fun nonsense that Stepmania has been doing forever. Same old boring modifiers here.

Party games could have been fun, but come of feeling like tech demos. Hands and feet mode works just fine, but there's no game in there because every song is stuck on what feels like "Beginner" difficulty. For those of us that can move our feet in our sleep, it will feels like standing there waiting to wave your hands. A shame because the functionality and potential is deffinatly there.

Clean the screen is dumb because you never have to wave your hands. The motion of your body bobbing around as you play is plenty to keep the screen clear. One nice feature is that records carry over from the main game. If you AA a song in arcade mode the AA will appear as the highscore in clean the screen and vice versa.

Breakout is cool but again feels like a tech demo. Batting the ball with your hands is quite cool and works just fine, but the board layouts are either boring or frustrating.

However.....Only You is on here! My favorite 4th mix song gets the 60fps upgrade!!! woo hoo!!! Kick the Can is another notable 4th mix repeat.
