I read it and I enjoyed it.
It was neat to see it all laid out like that.
I've put together a Mario Sprite History showing the changes Mario's undergone over the years. It would please me if you checked it out, moreso if you liked it. =)

I really like the "Mario & Wario" Mario, too bad that game never made it here. The rom I played of it did not work right and it seemed really interesting.
Barf! Barf! Barf!
nice article, neo. i was going to mention that you forgot the paper mario "sprite", but it looks like you added it since yesterday.
Paper Mario and 1+3 Allstars are my faves.
Quick zephyrs blow, vexing daft Jim.
Very cool! I liked it a lot. I did notice a couple things that I thought I should point out.
1."The SNES versions of Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3 are considered the definitive Marios."
I don't agree with this comment. Although they are clearly the nicest looking versions of those games, they shure aren't the nicest playing. Anyone who spent as much time with SMB(NES) as I did(and I'm sure there are a ton of you) can easily pick out how they busted the controls in the "All Stars" version. Try this on the NES & SNES versions for a perfect example: Go to any level you want and try to run at full speed under a block that is just above full grown(though you don't need to be full grown for this example) Mario's head. As soon as you get passed it, try jumping backwards up onto the block. It can be done with ease on the NES but not so on the SNES. This is a small gripe but with a game that had such perfect controls it makes me not want to play the graphically superior version.
2. You mentioned games that Mario cameod in but you left out the original NES Golf(that was Mario right?) and Mike Tyson's Punch Out where Mario was the ref. I really bring this up because both of these games had a different Mario sprite.
Either way, the site is very cool. Thanks for the history lesson.
Cool site.
I'm partial to Super Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario World Mario sprites.
And in your "Mario's Shame..." section, the Intellivision sprite is pretty damn close to the original Mario sprite from Donkey Kong arcade and Donkey Kong Jr. arcade. I don't think that's a shame at all.[/intellivision fanboyism]
Anyone have any impressions about SFC Wrecking Crew '98?
I've always wanted to try it.

The definitive Mario sprites, not games. I don't talk about gameplay throughout the entire article. The SNES versions of Super Mario Bros 1, 2 and 3 are considered the definitive Marios
I left out a lot of games, Mario's got cameos in quite a few games. There are pages devoted to these appearances. Way, way beyond the scope of this article. =) Glad you liked the article otherwise. You mentioned games that Mario cameod in but you left out...
Sorry it was unclear, this is the INTV version of Mario. An abomination indeed:
