Texas did the majority of the work on 3s, and those players are an excellent source of technical information, if that is what you are looking for.
For the past week, myself along with some of the Bay Area's top 3rd Strike players, as well as some passionate Mid-West players have been talking about creating a website dedicated to Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike. It's become pretty apparant that there is no information heavy, English based site for 3rd Strike knowledge. The only site like that in existance is KaraThrow.com and they only specialize in frame data.
What we need is something much more indepth, much more personal, and something that builds and improves on the great strategy guide made by Southern California players, but much more accessible. We need a damned online database.
What I'm asking from you guys is this. What would you want to see from a strategy and technique based 3rd Strike site? We're planning on covering the following-
# A history on the entire Three series, starting with New Generation to 3rd Strike. Release dates and brief rundowns of what led to the best fighting game ever made.
# Full character biographies that are true to the canon
# Full move lists with the appropriate spite accompaning each move (We're sitting on every single frame of 3S data right now)
# A general walk through of every character
# Insight from the nations top players for every single character. Be local SVGL heroes teaching you the ropes with Urien, or someone like Ricky Ortiz talking about Yun, these people will be masters of their respective characters.
# Goals for every character so that you know what to keep in your mind every moment of every match.
# Endings and special animations for every character, because beating Gill sucks and everyone loves gifs.
# A breakdown of 3S basics and advanced techniques, seperated of course.
# Indepth teaching of poking, the usage of UOH and other 3S concepts.
# A bunch of other crap that I am no doubt forgetting.
Long story short, we want to make you not suck at this game and we want to do it in a way that the average kid who bought SFA and loved 3S can understand it. We just really want this to work.
The reason why Im asking TNL is that I know there are plenty of people who are interested in 3rd Strike around here, but don't have the technical know-how or just don't have the competition around to truly learn it. So, if theres anything at all you think we should add, or any questions or shit talking about it, lets hear it.
Here's a layout preview, filled with place holders and other fun things such as the dates being completely wrong-

Uhh..I was asking what you people would want to see from a 3S database. I'm not exactly looking for help in the way of people since I pretty much have as much as I need to get the ground work laid out.

i'm allways anoyed at the amount of information is given on the less played characters like...i dunno.....q, or 12 or ibuki. most times when i see stuff in books/strategy guides they're all "this character is weak" or "this characters only strength is..." and i just don't think it's fair to not give the less played/popular characters as much time and input as others. so, yeah, i'd like to see so equal distribution of info among the characters.
I'd be pretty interested in the canon histories and stories, since I don't think Capcom's really ever put out anything in the US that included that.
Maybe we should just give random 3rd Strike advice in this thread until your site goes up, for anyone that asks.
And rama, Ibuki's a pretty popular character. Here's some basic stuff you can do with her: get in close and do a standing jab. Take a half step forward and do another jab. It has frame advantage and such high priority most characters (ugh, not Chun though) will get hit out of whatever they were trying. Mix it up with a one-two jab jab or throw if they start to block. Yay! Always pick her knives super so you have plenty of ex to work with... um, do her standing medium into everything (command grab and ex yah-yah kicks, whatever they're called), uhhh if you're playing with someone that sucks, get them in a corner and sweep them, roundhouse them again to reset them, then sweep them when they land. They'll keep getting hit until they decide to block low. Don't throw out that neck-breaking slide; it's like asking to be punished. Do her ex rising kick thing, cancel it into the knives super... there's a lot more you can do with her. She's CRAAAZY!

Rama: Thats actually one of our big focuses. Theres a pretty good Q player that we know of at SVGL who we're going to bug for advice on him, and we know of a great (Well, great for Twelve anyways) Twelve player that we're going to try and contact as well. I've also taken up Twelve and he's pretty fun in a stupid way. Standing mk into instant-air SA2? Pretty funny stuff.
The way we're going to do it is like this. For every character we plan on having a fairly detailed "General" layout of how to play a character. Then below that we'll have quotes from actual players from different parts of the country on how they do it. Like I said, we plan on choosing people to ask based upon their expertise on a certain character. So for example, we'll ask "Hugo Chris" from SVGL about duh, Hugo, but we won't be asking for my advice on Ken because I'll just flip you the middle finger and scream "CROUCHING MEDIUM KICK INTO SA3! AND DONT FORGET TO TURTLE!".
As for Ibuki? The EX Slides are great for punishing say, Ken's crouching medium kick. Since she can't take damage for crap, Ibuki's game is mostly poking, building meter for EX's and trying to stay the Hell out of the other opponents way. I was fooling around with her this weekend and yeah, I still don't really like her. She's way too toned down since New Generation for my tastes. Her best combo is what, Cr.FK > St.FK > EX srk+K? At least it's easy to get a lot.

Careful, Sl1p. This might make you useful.
Great idea SL1p. It look slike you covered all of the ideas for what a cool site on TS should contain.
But , yeah definitely get some Q strategies up their stat.I cannot use that guy.
And maybe strategies that work with certain characters vs. certain characters ie. Im reading Alex strategies - what moves does Alex have that'll work best against say Chun-Li.
And as sad as this sounds Third Strike Gill gives me trouble. Put some strats up for how to own him with all characters, which I think you mentioned doing?
Why is that sad? Third Strike Gill is a stupid bitch, he gives me trouble too. It was a pain in the ass beating him with Hugo.Originally Posted by Jetman

I just know that Ive heard people talk on the boards here like he's nothing - and I assumed that my skills were sad becuase I thought otherwise. NG Gill and DI Gill = cake , but damn, TS Gill I have trouble beating him with fucking Ryu and Ken.![]()
I simply cant fathom the skills required to beat him with Q or even Hugo for that matter.
