Thread: DDR Expertise needed

  1. DDR Expertise needed

OK, Im a relative newbie to all things DDR. I plan on buying the DDR Extreme Bundle for the PS2 (comes with the official Konami dance pad) for a freind for her birthday. Here are the few questions I have. First off, will the dance pad that comes with that bundle also work on a PS1? If so, I wanted to also get a PS1 version of DDR for her brother to play too (seperate rooms, seperate systems). Being as there are so many versions of DDR, is Exterme the best one on the PS2 so far (I believe there have been 3 on the PS2, right?)? What would be the top 3 for the PS1? Thanks for any guidance on this.

    I got here first!

OK, the dance pad will work with the PS1. If you're sticking to US releases, DDR USA and DDR Konamix were good (if you just get one, get Konamix) though you will seriously be shocked at how low the framerate for scrolling freaking arrows can be after playing the PS2 rev.

The best of the PS2 games is DDR MAX2, and the worst is easily Extreme. The song list is eh and they mysteriously took out the ability to slow down songs in training mode, which has been available since the first PS1 release and is something I've found very helpful.
