So what other Star Wars toys did you buy to get it? I know you did NERD, because you have to spend $25 or more at Toys R Us to get one.

What is WRONG with Lucas and his penchant to make the movies speed along as fast as possible?! OK, some scenes they cut in AoTC makes sense like the dull info droid scene where Obi Wan checks the dart or Dooku's mock trial. But others like the scene where Ki Adi and Plo Koon take out one of the droid control centers...c'mon! Lucas worries too much that intercutting some footage of two lesser known alien Jedi will detract from the main characters in the arena? Lame. Cutting some nice Chewy and Yoda fightin' is 100X worse. Let's hope they get decent fight scenes otherwise.

Also annoyed at a Ep 3 cut where the Jedi "use their lightsabers to escape Grevious" was axed. Lucas always cuts transitional parts like this or doesn't even try to make them at all. IE: we never get to see Obi Wan and Qui Gon smuggling aboard the TF ships, then *bam!* all of a sudden they're running through the mud on Naboo and run into Jar Jar. Zero transition there. That said I'd be really surprised the scene with Jar Jar, Obi Wan and Yoda sneaking past the guards was apprently kept.

Or how about the nice scenes with Padme's family and we see her weakening and starting to fall for him as her mother/sister start to ask about him/their relationship? Lucas gives the same flippin' excuse on the DVD for cutting Padme's family/dinner scenes as almost every other scene: "Well, I just thought this scene was too slow, things weren't moving fast enough. I felt we needed to get to the scenes on Tatooine faster, blah blah." He's dead right on this excuse for other scenes like the info droid scene/dart scan, but not when a scene has normal human drama and DOES add to the story as the scenes of Padme's family did.

  3. Yeah it's really nice he doesn't even give us the option to see it with cut scenes intact, yet he'll hand us a cock-tease on the 2nd disk.

If I recall, there was quite a bit I never got to watch from empire, including a bit that happened during the Luke/Vader fight.
"Your soul better belong to Jesus, mmm-mmmmm..... cause your ass belongs to me!"

  4. OK, I forgot to add, Obi Wan telling Padme he knows she and Anakin are married/in love is a TERRIBLE cut. Cutting the scene with Sam the Man telling Yoda they're going to arrest Palps is another bummer. Build up, Lucas. B-U-I-L-D U-P.

Actually, there IS one scene I am very glad they cut and here it is mentioned by Jetman, I'll explain why.

As you said Shaak Ti was flat out awesome in the Clone Wars episodes this year. So I was at the bookstore looking at the big, bulky "Making of Ep 3" book and... ...from the storyboard I saw in the book, Grievous kills Shaak Ti simply by sneaking up behind her and putting a lightsaber into her back and out through her chest. Maybe that's not exactly how it happens since I'm just basing it off one storyboard picture, but that's what it looks like. In light of what a great fighter she was in the cartoons (taking on tons of Magna droids at once and fooling Grevious by tying his cloak to the moving train), this would have been IMHO a very poor and much too quick way to kill her off....

Yeah, I know everyone and their mom is going to be itching to see the next saber fight scene and see the movie speed along, but I agree. And its not like its a massive amount of build-up,just simple transition like you mentioned is all we need, and it sounds like some of those scenes may have contained that.

Yeah, she was awesome. But this is Episode 3. Damn near all of the Jedi are going to be dying, and if she has to go, it might as well be to Grievous than a random droid,or in some big explosion. After Clone Wars the two have some semblance of a history/rivalry so it sucks to not see it come to a completion in Episode 3 however quick and sneaky it may have been.

Damn, that sounds about right for me, but I know they're gonna make a new saga trilogy, and then after that they'll make like an Ultimate Box set, etc.
