What is WRONG with Lucas and his penchant to make the movies speed along as fast as possible?! OK, some scenes they cut in AoTC makes sense like the dull info droid scene where Obi Wan checks the dart or Dooku's mock trial. But others like the scene where Ki Adi and Plo Koon take out one of the droid control centers...c'mon! Lucas worries too much that intercutting some footage of two lesser known alien Jedi will detract from the main characters in the arena? Lame. Cutting some nice Chewy and Yoda fightin' is 100X worse. Let's hope they get decent fight scenes otherwise.Originally Posted by Jetman
Also annoyed at a Ep 3 cut where the Jedi "use their lightsabers to escape Grevious" was axed. Lucas always cuts transitional parts like this or doesn't even try to make them at all. IE: we never get to see Obi Wan and Qui Gon smuggling aboard the TF ships, then *bam!* all of a sudden they're running through the mud on Naboo and run into Jar Jar. Zero transition there. That said I'd be really surprised the scene with Jar Jar, Obi Wan and Yoda sneaking past the guards was apprently kept.
Or how about the nice scenes with Padme's family and we see her weakening and starting to fall for him as her mother/sister start to ask about him/their relationship? Lucas gives the same flippin' excuse on the DVD for cutting Padme's family/dinner scenes as almost every other scene: "Well, I just thought this scene was too slow, things weren't moving fast enough. I felt we needed to get to the scenes on Tatooine faster, blah blah." He's dead right on this excuse for other scenes like the info droid scene/dart scan, but not when a scene has normal human drama and DOES add to the story as the scenes of Padme's family did.
